My dad drove C-47s for the USAAF in Europe in the latter days of WWII.
One of the stories he told me was of helping disassemble a Komet found
on an abandoned Luftwaffe base and bringing it back to England. Wonder
if this might be it...
They also once rescued a puppy - seems it wasn't keen on flying; he
said flying a C-47 with a puppy cowering behind the rudder pedals was
"interesting" All ended well.
