MANDELA MEMORIAL INTERPRETER SPEAKS IN TONGUES IN SIGN LANGUAGE
Johannesburg - Thamsanqa Jantji, a South African sign language
expert, surprised visiting dignitaries during a memorial service
for the late Nelson Mandela, when he suddenly saw angels
invading the stadium, and began speaking feverishly in tongues
in sign language, like a man possessed.
To clarify, Jantji was seeing the angels, not the late Mandela
or the angel of Mandela, or Mandela seeing angels, and it was
Jantji who was speaking in tongues, not the angels, or Mandela
sitting up in his coffin and starting to speak.
U.S. President Barack Obama and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-
moon listened in stunned silence, not quite certain if what
they were beholding represented sheer madness or a gift of
prophecy.
Jantji gesticulated wildly, with a shine in his eyes,

With that, Jantji, though exhausted from his inspired
speaking in tongues, shocked guests even more by darting
out a four-foot tongue like a toad and eating an unwary fly.
This tradition is age-old, going back to the Oracle at Delphi
in the 400s BC. In response to someone's questions, a priestess
would go into a frenzy and start babbling. An attendant priest
would then 'translate' the babble into some glittering
generalities that could in some way be understood as an answer.
South African Deputy Minister Bogopane-Zulu was deeply embarassed
by this strange behavior and promised prompt action.
Bogopane-Zulu said the government tracked down the company
Jantjie worked for, but the owners "seemed to have vanished."

President Barrack Obama defended Jantji, saying that to punish
him would violate both his rights of freedom of speech
and freedom of religion under the First Amendment of the
Constitution of the United States.
Bogopane-Zulu and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon reminded
the President that he was in South Africa and that he was not
in the United States anymore, but not to worry, that South
Africa's Constitution was just as good, maybe even better.

Strictly speaking however this sounds like the plot of
"Inception." Proponents would argue the responses are "naturally"

I worked part of my time in the brig canoe club. We lived for a
