Two works in particular, Matisses Blue Nude and Duchamps Nude
Descending a Staircase (No. 2), proved especially controversial
to viewers in 1913 (and provided great fodder for satirical
cartoons). One art historian referred to Matisses work as that
toad; Duchamps was famously explained as an explosion in a
shingle factory.
Five Redon works will be auctioned by Swann, including one that
sold for $25 in 1913 and is estimated to bring in up to $20,000

Soviets big victory in Manchuria in 1945

knees. He was much calmer than Toad had been. He began speaking

Archer learned Russian and when he became so good at a Russian
accent, I'll never know.
Another voice spoke up and my head started throbbing, this was
too much Russian at once. Archer had been silenced and now the
new voice was speaking with the one that was apparently in
charge.
"Da, da," the larger Russian that I assumed was in charge said;
finally, something I can understand.
"Uh, guys, I know I was out, but since when was there a peace
treaty between us and the Russians?" Toad asked, standing up.
"Toad, he's with Nikoli," Archer answered.

In Volgograd, Russia two bombs were exploded last Sunday and
Monday. There is speculation in the MSM that they are terrorist
attacks by Chechen rebels but it follows a pattern from the
London Olympics when two major incidents were connected with the
