Solomon's Private File #414
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 34 in this story, in the Fall of 2060.
Solomon's Private File #414 "Feathertop Rescues"
START Page
said to him in mindtalk, "Those older boys chased her into the woods
here." He said the same way, "She's hiding in some exposed tree roots
she put brush around. She's broadcasting her fear!" I said, "She
doesn't realize it." He said, "They'll find her, easily." I said,
"They'll try to knock her out, first." He grinned, and said, "Too many
shocks spoils their fun." I said, "A lot more so, considering where
they felt it. They shouldn't have tried to rape her." He said, "One of
them isn't going to be doing that again for a while." I said, "Yes, the
one holding himself." Grins. I said, "They're picking up rocks. They
think they know where she is."
We moved to be close behind the boys, not letting them be aware of
us. I said, "Greetings, boys. A little late in the evening to be out
for a stroll, isn't it?" They didn't quite jump into the branches of
the highest trees, but it looked like they tried to. One said, "This is
a private meeting!" I said, "Well then, let's get it started. What's on
the agenda?" He said, "You weren't invited, so you have to leave." I
said, "If we were to be invited, would we be required to attend, even
if we didn't want to?" He said, "No, of course not. You can leave." I
said, "That means Suvenit can leave with us, because she didn't except
your invitation." They stared at me.
Another one said, "Yes she did accept!" I said with a voice like
thunder, and with lightnings coming from my spread hands and fingers,
"You will not lie to me!" One screamed, and two jumped and fell down.
One said, "You're a demon!" I said, "That's stupid. Demons like lies.
As God does NOT, we do not." They tried to run away, but their legs
wouldn't do it. I said, "Our meeting isn't finished. What would you
have done with Suvenit? Remember about the lying issue. You WILL
answer. Better you do it with your will than mine." One gulped, and
said, "We wanted to be friendly." He jumped like he was poked on the
naked butt with hot iron. Raminor said to me, "Is that going to leave a
mark?" I said, "Yes. Lying is against God. So is rape. One here knows
that very well. You can feel his pain." He said, "Yes. He's not going
to be able to use that until it heals. Why don't we let all the boys
feel each other's feelings?"
I said, "Do they deserve such a gift from God?" He said, "It's how WE
live. They should know how they could be if they deserved it." I said,
"So be it." I set it up, and they all felt each others feelings, which
included fear and pain, and from the girl, too. Some of them yelled in
surprise, and then the others echoed that in shared reflex. Then the
boys started a feedback loop among themselves with sexual feelings.
Their orgasms were so hard, they fell down. Some of them fainted for 2
seconds. Then their testicles ached fiercely. I said to Raminor, "You
see? They weren't ready for it." He said, "True, but they don't want to
rape anybody now." I said, "Yes, but they're in some pain in a very
sensitive place, from the intensity." He said, "We could heal them." I
said, "We do that for good people. See any around here?" He said, "None
but Suvenit. Er, and us." I said, "Belatedly, thank you." We hugged.
Suvenit had to laugh. She came out from her hiding place. We offered
to hug her, and she almost fainted. She said, "You ARE holy!" I said
with a grin, "Obviously not a lie." Grins. I said, "It's getting too
dark to see your smile." Raminor said, "Allow me." He created an Adept
light ball over his hand, and sent up up into the air three meters. He
said to Suvenit, "You can learn to do that, and much more." She said,
"I want to go with you. I have nothing here but the bad." Raminor said,
"We prefer the good. But it's hard work to learn to be all we can be."
She said, "Hard work is all I know." I said, "You know much more, which
you aren't aware of. That will change." She looked very hungry.
I said to the boys, "Now we have to decide what to do with you." One
said, "You can't harm us, you're holy!" I said, "Do you believe we
are?" They looked at each other. One said, "You came here to rescue the
girl. You are not from this land, but you knew about it. You very much
dislike what we did and would do, yet you haven't really harmed us,
where most would have. We would have in your place. I think you ARE
holy, and we are fortunate that is so." They nodded in agreement. I
said to Raminor, "He can actually think. Interesting. Maybe they're
worth helping. Suvenit, what do you think?" She said, "He did display
thinking skill. I can feel their fear, and in some, a little self butt
kicking feelings." Some of the boys chuckled. I said, "But not true
remorse for how they treated you, and were about to do even worse.
Would it be good of us to not correct that, for the sake of other girls
and woman they would attack?" She said, "What could you do to them to
prevent that?" I said, "Practically anything, but it must be just and
fair. Making good people is better than making resentful or dead
people. Unoccupied bodies are SO inconvenient to deal with."
Raminor laughed, and said, "I'll never get used to the way you say
things!" I said, "Good. Keeps your attention." He nodded, and said, "As
the best teacher should." The intelligent boy said, "We have some pain
now, that we believe you can heal. I propose we are made to keep it for
a week, as a reminder of our misdeeds, and what could have been much
worse for us." I said, "Worse is right. Some of the punishments I've
caused others, while some of them seem funny to observers, are NOT
funny to those experiencing them." Raminor with obvious great interest,
"What were they?" I said, "I knew you were going to ask that." He
grinned widely. I said, "And that's why I'm not going to tell you. I
value creativity. Of others. I already have my own. Consequences should
be related to the offense, and serve to motivate the offender to change
into a person who doesn't want to do that. We do not do bad to people
for the sake of doing bad, but to prevent them from doing bad to
others, and to help them to improve themselves as people. But if it can
said, "It draws more attention. Shame is a very effective motivator.
Public nakedness for example, and with printed on the skin some
interesting invitations. My father stopped a war that way. People are
not moved to violence while laughing their heads almost off of their
shoulders." Grins and chuckles.
One said, "How would you do that?" I said, "A moment. Suvenit, you're
not in the best of clothes. May I provide you with an improvement? It
would happen instantly." She said, "Oh, Please!" I said, "If you want
and clean clothes. She looked down at herself in amazement. I said to
the boy, "Answered your question?" He said, "Yes sir, you did!" I said
to them, "Any doubt of who we are?" They had none. I said, "One week of
your proposal is not enough. You would have killed her. You will have
it for one month, the length of a woman's cycle." Raminor said, "Oh! I
see what you mean about being related to the offense!" I said, "There
is more. During that time, you will not pleasure yourself, or another,
sexually. For the month after that, you will still have the pain, and
greater, but not anything for the day you pleasure to completion one or
more of your fellow offenders, mutually. That is to cause you to learn
to care for others. Don't tell me you haven't done it before. I know
all. This will be different, because you will need to, even if you
don't wish it, just as you would have caused Suvenit, and more."
They looked odd, clearly not expecting that. One said, "I have to
admit, that's strangely fair." Raminor said, "Well described! I
wouldn't have thought of that!" I said, "I see you and I have more work
to do regarding that lack." He said, "Oops!" Chuckles. I said to the
boys, "You will not lie about us, but you will also not tell people
about us things that would cause feelings in them you know we wouldn't
want them to have. No, that's not a choice for you. My requirements are
actually forced compulsions. You can't go against them. Please stand."
They did. I cleaned them up. I said, "What you tell others about this,
if anything, should be interesting. Some are going to need to know what
you were doing in the woods at night." One said, "Could you help us
with that?" I said, "Well, you could explain your pain, too, by saying
you were in the woods to have a contest for who could shoot the
farthest, but there had been some disagreements about the measurement,
so you had to do it again, and again. Or you can create your own
explanation."
Raminor laughed almost hysterically. Some of the boys laughed a
little, too. I said to Raminor, "I think I just gave them an idea for a
future activity. Boys and contests!" He said, "If I had enough
forest, you should be making the plan and agreeing to it. Individual
differences in the explanation might come back on you in an unpleasant
way from your people. You may watch us leave." I said to Raminor and
Suvenit, "Instant transportation to our school. Ready?" They were, and
so we ported there. Manchin was there with hugs. They got her settled
in the room for girls, and I left.
Manchin and I ported to a distant land, already knowing the language.
It was an island, actually. They were a seafaring people. We didn't let
them notice us. Naked children of many ages were in a swimming class,
but there was a disruption. The water was behaving strangely around two
of the children, a boy and a girl of about 12 years of age, twins. The
other children were afraid, and a man was yelling at the two to stop
doing that. The girl said, "We're not doing anything! We don't know
what's making it happen!" He said, "Yes you are. It only happens around
you! Stop it, or I'll beat you again!" I said, "Excuse me sir, but has
the beating stopped it before?" He said, noticing I was new to the
situation, "Unfortunately, it hasn't." I said, "Oh. Then why do you
still beat them?" He said, "I don't know what else to do." I said,
"Well, you could try standing on your head?" He said with anger,
"What's that supposed to mean?"
I said, "You've said that beating is ineffective, yet you still do
it. Standing on your head is also likely to be ineffective, but it sure
is a lot less uselessly painful to the children. Reason shows you
should change what you do. Unless you only do it to express your anger,
and to relieve your frustration on the helpless children." He started
to become very angry, when a woman said, "Wait! What he said is wise.
Think about it. Why beat them when it doesn't work? Either you're very
stupid, and we know you aren't, or there has to be another reason why
you do it." Another man said, "I think it's WE who've been stupid in
letting you continue to beat them." Most of the rest agreed with him.
The father was torn between his outrage at being interfered with, and
embarrassment at discovering he was wrong, and in public. He
compromised by saying to me, "Do YOU know what I should do about it?" I
said, "Yes. You should consult an expert in these matters." He said,
"Do you know where I can find one?" I said, "Yes. Right here. Me.
That's what I'm here for. Who else, being a stranger among fierce
fighters, would dare to interfere in this situation?" There were some
grins and nods. He had to smile, when he said, "You do have courage, I
have to admit." I said, "Not really. I'm a very good fighter, myself."
He said, "But you couldn't defeat all of us." I said, "I wouldn't need
to. What causes the water to move by itself near your children, is
around me as well, and will stop any attack like an unseen shield, as I
will it."
He said, "An unusual claim. Would you allow us to test it?" I said,
"I would have disrespected you if you had accepted my word without
easily obtained proof." He grinned, and so did some others. He said,
"Part of me has been wanting to dislike you. It hasn't succeeded."
Manchin said to me, "He talks strangely, like you do. Oh, no!"
Laughter. I said to the father, "If you wish, you may test my student
of the larger than usual mouth." More laughter. They made a space
around him. I said, "You may strike him with anything you choose, but
be careful not to harm yourselves in that, or those who are watching.
Things may bounce off with some force. He hopes." Laughter. One said,
"Strike him anywhere?" I said, "Yes, but you might want to be aware of
who is watching, and what opinions they may form of you, regarding
that." One said, "You think of everything!" I said, "I try." Nods.
They hit Manchin all over, but not in the groin, which was noticed
but not mentioned. They discovered that it wouldn't have made any
difference. Nothing touched him. Then a staff broke on him, and flew to
stab an onlooker in the side. A naked 8 year old boy. He screamed. I
said, "Stop! Manchin, heal him!" They all stopped in mid strike, like
statues. Manchin knelt by the boy, and said, "Do I have your permission
to heal you?" His mother yelled out, "Say yes!" I nodded my
appreciation to her. The boy gasped, "Yes." Manchin said, "You will
sleep now." He pulled the staff segment out of the boy. He glowed with
energy, and the wound could be seen to slowly close. Then it was gone,
leaving no scar. The boy woke up, and hugged him. Then he said,
"Everybody! You've got to hug him! He's got love you can feel!" All the
kids rushed to get out of the water and ran to him. He said, "Wait!
Take turns, please. My arms aren't long enough to hug you all at once,
even though I would like that. Would have to get a new tunic, though."
Grins and laughter, and then all the kids had hugged him.
Father said to me, confidentially, "You have other students?" I said,
"I do. We know what will happen." He grinned, and said, "Is it far?" I
said, "Yes, for others." He nodded, and said, "You are greater than
your students." I said, "Students with distant families may visit them
in the first three years, once a year. After that, maybe another year,
depending on how they develop. After that, distance is not a concern,
not that we wish that known to all. You know we only do good." He said,
"I see that. You're holy." I said, "Stop looking." He laughed loudly.
One young girl said to Manchin, "We all hugged you, and you're not
wet!" He said to her, "Did you want me to be wet?" She said, "No." He
said, "Then there's no problem." They grinned at each other The father
said to me, "He teaches?" I said, "You know. One of two. Fully
qualified. Been teaching doctors for a year." He said, "Oh! You teach
student doctors, too?" I said, "Them, not yet. Those were adult
practicing doctors. We who can see inside people, and can heal them,
have a lot to teach doctors who don't have those abilities." He said,
"I think I can understand that. Isn't it dangerous?" I said, "Very, if
we're not careful. We teach them by experimenting. Knowing what's
there, it's not difficult to devise experiments to demonstrate it. No
special abilities are demonstrated." He said, "Good." I said, "In some
lands, those like your children are murdered by people frightened by
the unknown." He said, "I think that was also part of why I beat them,
I'm ashamed to admit." I said, "That you do admit it, and your other
forthcoming decisions, cause a just punishment not to be needed for
your bad actions. The good we do, isn't always what we like, we who
feel the pain of others like our own."
He almost had some tears, in his nod. He said, "You are holy. I do
know that." I said, "And you don't have to keep telling me that!" He
laughed. He said, "Does God have a sense of humor?" I said, "He does,
and he likes to embarrass me, too!" He laughed. Manchin looked over at
us, and nodded and grinned. Father said, "He heard us?" I said, "We
don't bother with much privacy among us. It wouldn't work." He said,
"Well supervised!" I said, "Absolutely." He said, "My wife, who is
visiting her sister on another island, has been at me to apprentice
them, but I've been reluctant to expose them to danger, with what I
suspected they did. Now I can tell her they've been accepted to become
doctors. They WILL know all that?" I said, "Yes, and much more. They
will know almost all that is known in the world, and more. We only
accept students who are capable of that." He said, "Wow!" I said, "We
hear that a lot." Grins.
He gathered his children, and they, and Manchin and I, walked to his
house. Manchin said to the kids, "You're coming with us to our school."
The girl said to her father, "Is that true?" He grinned, and said, "If
you want to become like your hugging friend, yes." They made quite some
noise about that. Manchin said, "We need to do some things first. Think
of what you have here, that you would like to have with you at the
school. Also know that we'll provide you with anything you need." He
said to the boy, "Not too much of that. It's not good for you." He
said, "You knew what I was thinking?" He said, "I saw where you looked,
and I felt your hunger. And I should know how a boy feels and thinks,
having been your age, oh so long ago." Grins and a hug.
"Feeling a little unintelligent now?" He said, "Yes, I am. This is an
island. How did you get here?" I said, "I mentioned about distance not
being a concern. I can't explain it so you will understand, but my
Senior Students are able to move from one place to another, instantly.
Very convenient." He tried not to say wow, and said, "It would be." I
nodded in appreciation of his effort, and he almost laughed. I made a
globe illusion in the air between us, and said, "Here is where we are
now. Over here, is where we're going." He said, "How are you doing
this?" I said, "It's a projected illusion from my mind." I said to the
kids, "Would you like to try it?" They really did. I said, "Think of a
simple picture in your minds, then get your mind behind it, and push it
hard out into the air, thinking we should see it." In front of them,
something flickered. Manchin said, "That's very good! You'll become
much better with practice."
I said to the father, "You can do it, too." He tried, with the same
flicker. I said, "The unusual abilities we have, all people have some
of, but are mostly unaware of them, being so slight. We just have them
stronger in us, and so they're trainable, and need to be, or they could
cause harm. Part of our training involves honor, so strongly, we become
unable to lie, or act unjustly. And we watch each other, to ensure that
remains so." He said, "I feel better about that. More, I think I feel
some love for you and your student." I said, "We live that way, with
love for all. It comes back to us. I offer to you, mine in full." He
learning." He laughed weakly.
I said, "Children, you need to hug your father before we go." They
did. I said to him, "I have children. I know how it is to have children
so good, they will help the world. A blessing among blessings, even if
their work causes them to be apart from us more than for others." He
had tears, and nodded. Manchin hugged him. Father said, "The proof of
your teaching. Thank you." We nodded, and vanished.
