Well, I could be wrong, but it seemed to me that part of the
agreement, due in part because this was recognized as an "addiction,"
was to "leave Usenet," and that means entirely.
No posting; and no reading.
And no, as far as I know, Davey has not posted to Usenet. My
apologies to all (and Davey, who certainly IS reading) if I gave that
impression. I thought I tried to be clear that he was reading and, as
a result, posted a review on Amazon.
I think I also suggested that it could be that Davey was contacted by
Jason and they had some discussion of it.
The agreement with Frank, it seems to me, was a total withdrawal from
Usenet - and that means no reading, either. Frank's concern, so well
expressed, was for a fellow christian suffering from an addiction no
less damaging than any substance. So I don't think Frank had in mind
that Davey could READ Usenet and not participate. That doesn't make a
lot of sense. After all, one does not tell an alcoholic that "beer
and wine are okay, just lay off the hard stuff."
Still, like I said, I could be wrong and, if so, I'm sorry to all -
including Davey - for the wrong impression.
