* June 25, 1966: "Dark Shadows" began its popular run as a daily
serial on ABC-TV. The show became a popular late-afternoon favorite
for several seasons, then reappeared as a prime-time revival for a
short, two-month run in 1991. The last episode aired on April 2,
1971.
* The first episode of "Joanie Loves Chachi" was the highest rated
American program in the history of Korean television -- "Chachi" is
Korean for "penis."
* February 25, 1928 - The Federal Radio Commission issued the first
U.S. television license to Charles Jenkins Laboratories in Washington,
DC. The first commercial TV license was issued in 1941.
* January 14, 1952 - On this cold East Coast morning at 7AM, NBC-TV
opened the the first "Today" show broadcast with a shot of Dave
Garroway looking outside through the Window on the World in New York
City. The program was the first that featured his signature sign-off:
hand raised, uttering one word, "Peace".
