Tragedy
Bill Clinton, while visiting a school, asks the students if anyone can
give an example of a "TRAGEDY". A young boy stands up and offers "If
my best friend was playing in the street and was struck and killed by
a car, that would be a TRAGEDY".
"NO," replies Clinton, "that would be an ACCIDENT".
A young girl raises her hand and offers "If a school bus with fifty
children crashed killing the driver and all the children, that would
be a TRAGEDY."
"NO," replies Clinton one more time, "that would be known as A GREAT
LOSS."
The room falls silent, until Clinton asks "Come on now, is there not a
single one of you who can give an example of a TRAGEDY?"
Little Johnny finally raises his hand rather timidly, and in a small
voice says, "If an airplane carrying Bill and Hillary Clinton was
blown up by a bomb that would be a TRAGEDY!!"
"Marvelous," exclaims Clinton, "now can you tell the class why that
would be a TRAGEDY"?
"Well", says Little Johnny, "First of all it would not be an ACCIDENT,
and it certainly would be NO GREAT LOSS."
