Solomon's Private File #392
These stories about Stephen and Solomon take place starting in the
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 33 in this story, in the Summer of 2059.
Solomon's Private File #392 "After Marcel's Wedding"

I said to the crime boss and his people, "Successful wedding, in all
ways." They grinned. Boss said, "My man there has already reported.
Well done!" I said, "Er, thank you. I suspect you're feeling very smart
now, with your decisions regarding it, and me." Really big grins. I
said to four men, "Four required actions, and done well. And you
enjoyed it." Chuckles. I said, "For all of you, the payment as
promised. And for the actions, this bonus. I'm sorry, I couldn't make
more of it happen." Boss said, "Did you want to?" I said, "You did, and
you know why I might want that." He said, "You know me too well."
Grins. He said, "You wanted to show the households their vulnerability
in a way that didn't cause them harm, so they can do something about
it. I wanted to increase my standing in this area, at the expense of
the other leaders. And you wanted that, because I'm more intelligent
and careful than they are." I said, "And you are now showing that to
your people, which you are NOT hating."
He said, "Are you going to er, visit the other leaders?" I said,
"That will be decided by Marcel. They attacked him, not me." He said,
"Is he as skilled as you are?" I said, "A little less, not having
trained as long as I have. That could cause him to be less careful in
fighting, in keeping from causing his opponents serious injuries. So,
he might be even more dangerous than I've allowed myself to be, in
action. In desire, that is now his choice. I don't rule him. But he
knows all of what you and I have discussed. With smiles." They gave
some, too. He said, "Did he have difficulty in believing all you said
to me?" I said, "You were watching?" He laughed.
I said, "I may have to stay in this land longer than I had planned. I
have acquired a new student. The young brother of Marcel's wife. I
think he may become a doctor. I will be teaching that in my office
building, to people who THINK they are doctors. What a strange
expression." He laughed. I said, "There is a problem. While I may be
able to teach him how to defend himself, he may not be able to make
himself harm another. I am like that, but being stronger in mind, I am
able to do what must be done for the greater good." He nodded, and
said, "I expected that. You cause the least personal harm as possible
in your actions." His people nodded, too. He said, "I know what you
desire. We will protect him." His people nodded in agreement. He said,
"I wouldn't have believed this could be possible, being that we are so
different in every aspect we know, but we like and respect you, as we
do no other. Some of us think you are holy. Is the boy?" I said, "He is
like me in the parts of me that you say that for, but untaught. I must
first teach him about himself. He is much more than he knows. Then I
will teach him about people." He grinned, and said, "If it will be as
you have shown me, he will be completely astounded." I said, "You know
I like that." They chuckled.
Marcel sent a messenger to ask to see me in the house in the city,
the day after the wedding. He said, "The two crime bosses. I should
visit them. Waiting too long, will make that less effective." I said,
"Would have angered the wife, if you had done it the best time, right
after the wedding." He grinned, and said, "Angered me, too. I knew you
wouldn't do it alone. My problem now." I told him about Raminor, and
the crime boss offer of protection. He said, "Wow! You have another
student, here!" I said, "I'll be informing my family. He needs me more
than you did, but in a different way. You don't know him well. You
should. You will love him, and more, who he can become." He said, "Will
he see the future?" I said, "Not in a useful way. In feeling, a little,
probably. But he already can move objects at a distance, but not under
his control. That must be corrected, before he frightens people into
killing him." He said, "Absolutely! If ever he wants to live with us,
he will be VERY welcome!" I said, "Emirmis could have a problem with
his abilities. It's not sorcery, but inborn mental abilities that do
not indicate anything of morality. But he will be very ethical. That's
part of the training." He said, "Good. I'll work to discover her
feelings on that issue." I said, "His father knows and is supportive."
He said, "I am appreciating him more, as time passes." I said, "That
often happens in increasing maturity." Grins, and a hug.
On the street, I said, "I have the ability to shield us from view."
He said, "Best that happens now, or he will be warned. How?" I said,
"My mind is VERY strong. With my will and expressed internal energy, I
can cause people to just not notice me. You could learn that, but it
takes many years, and great mental control. Most who can do it, can't
make it happen while they are talking and walking. I can think in
different streams. That helps." He said, "Dividing attention! THAT
would be a very useful ability." I said, "Almost impossible to learn
when not started in early childhood, when the mind is more flexible."
He said, "That I should have expected, or I would already have that
skill." I said, "You do, a little. We'll discuss it after. Grins,
extra." He chuckled.
We were at the establishment of Kringont, a money changing and loan
business. We went inside. I said, "They see us now, but are unable to
act on it. Yes, all true Senior Masters of fighting arts can do this.
Few actually let people know that." He tried not to laugh. I said, "In
his office, everything will be normal. Well, except him. Good effort."
I opened the door, and we walked in. Marcel said, "I am Marcel. You
sent a man to kill me. I'm severely insulted you would send such an
incompetent fool!" Kringont was so surprised, he couldn't say anything.
I said to Marcel, "Maybe he's ill. Some disease of surprised silence?"
He said, "Well, he's already had the ugliness disease, and never
recovered." I said, "My children would love you." He grinned, and said,
"Such high honor!" I said, "They've said similar things in their own
encounters of this kind." He said, "I would have to love who said them,
as I would any child of yours." I said, "I'll tell them. Thank you." He
said to the boss, "You still here? Voice returned yet?"
Kringont said, "You're not angry at me for trying to kill you?"
Marcel said, "No, because you can't succeed, and it gives me a reason
to reduce your effectiveness. Who wouldn't like that? Oh, except for
you. What I DO dislike is that your man could have injured or killed
somebody else in his clumsiness. Don't you have any GOOD assassins?" He
Think you wouldn't be his target?" He said, "Oh! I didn't think of
that!" I said, "Knapgak didn't think of that. Now he can't. He's dead.
Poisoned by one of the other unsuccessful attackers at the wedding. A
woman, actually." He gulped, and said, "I understand. I won't bother
either of you. No profit in that at all." I said to Marcel,
"Disappointed he decided that so fast?" He said, "I am, a little.
You've taught me so much I haven't had the opportunity to use yet." I
said, "You may, eventually. He may help you in that." Kringont said,
"No I won't!" I said, "I have a personal request. Doctors and midwives.
You ever need their services, best you don't attack any of them." He
said, thoughtfully, "Some of us have said that. But they have money." I
said, "I think you know which way you should go. I'm going to be
teaching them, and actively supporting them." He said, "Your new
building is said to be for them. I'll pass the word to leave them
alone."
I said to Marcel, "See how effective politeness and reason can be?"
He said, "I do, but the disappointment remains." I said, "Think he has
some here who could provide some sport?" He said, "If they wouldn't run
away. So inconvenient when they do that. Oh, I've thought of something.
We just used words. They can be disbelieved over time. A demonstration,
and punched right through it. I said, "Ah! Ventilation service!" I said
to the boss, "Pick a place on the ceiling, and I'll throw a coin so it
sticks in the wood there." He pointed, and in a blur of motion, and a
thunk sound, the coper piece was stuck halfway into the wood. I said,
"That can kill. Faster reloading than ten pistols, and the same range
with better accuracy. Got the hint?" He gulped, and said, "Got it! You
both are more than I knew." I said, "Much more than that. Don't test
us, or things might happen that could cause you to beg to be killed. SO
embarrassing!" He nodded. Marcel said, "Have a nice day."
I said to Marcel, "A cousin said to a fighting instructor she had
just kicked where his wife wouldn't like, and was moaning on the ground
and cursing, "I bet he puts his mouth in dirty places." He laughed. I
said, "She was eleven then." He said, "And she beat an instructor?" I
said, "My student of a year." He said, "Oh, that explains it!" We
walked out. I said, "We were at his school because he was abusing
people." He said, "Ah! A mission. She was there to provide some
humbling embarrassment." I said, "Succeeded. He's doing well now, and
my cousin has been on many more missions, and so has her interesting
way of speaking, which is very appreciated in my family." He grinned,
and said, "I well believe it. I think I understand more of you and your
remarkable family. This is your true calling, helping people and
societies to be better." I said, "Yes. Who doesn't like to be useful?"
He said, "I understand." We hugged.
I said to Raminor, in my penthouse, "So, how do you like it?" He
said, "Amazing! It's like a real home, but in an office building. You
even have your workshops here!" I said, "Better than at home before. No
sleepers to wake." He said, "My father talked to me. I didn't knew he
knew so much of my er, problems." I said, "Parents are like that. They
either know very little of their children, or too much, depending on
who does the assessing." He grinned, and said, "That's true. He thought
I liked men because of my feelings for you. He said you explained it
well." I said, "Some of that he will never understand. We who can feel
the feelings of others, don't care much about the differences in
attractions. We can't. We feel all kinds from people." He said, "That's
true. I didn't think of it that way." I said, "And because of that,
those of our kind can have very few secrets from each other." He
nodded.
I said, "That means you will know more of me than any other here, and
that should not be revealed to others. And they won't believe you." He
grinned, and said, "I almost don't believe myself!" I said, "Well said.
I like that. Keep your humor. It's a good friend. There is a problem in
this. Much you will experience here will be VERY strange. You will want
to ask a lot of questions, and that could take time away from learning
as you should. And it could be dangerous, prompting you to experiment
beyond your safety. What you will be learning, while not intending to
be harmful, can be very destructive if not done very carefully." He
said, "Wow!" I said, "Included." He chuckled.
I said, "You are aware of the ability to sense the feelings of the
owners of objects by touching them?" He said, "I am. Some are so strong
as to be very disturbing." I said, "There is a way to do that
intentionally, as a teaching aid. This crystal is one such device. It
has stored memories in it, and commands. One of them will prevent you
from doing dangerous things by accident. You read it by putting it to
your forehead. You will then see the index in your mind. You will see
the commands before you agree to them. All my students of our kind
start this way. Yes, me, too. My father invented this." He read it and
said, "Wow!" I said, "That word is going to get some exercise here!" He
was in awe. He accepted all the commands, and read the first books on
his abilities, that I had made for his culture. I said, "That one will
only work for you." He said, "It has your love in it." I said, "Yes, I
usually include that. I love love. Hmm, that sounded a little odd." He
grinned, and said, "I don't care. I like it." We hugged, and he
ejaculated. He said, "I didn't know your love was so strong!" I said,
said, "For the future. Yes, there are going to be some frustrations.
Yes, I know what you're thinking. It's not something I can stop." He
said, "That's bad! I sure wouldn't like to be that way!" I said, "You
won't. My problem with it is only mine. No other has it at this time."
I said, "There are two things you should be practicing. One is
projection." I showed him an image of his mother. I said, "Here's how
you do it. Think of a picture. Get behind it in your mind, and push it
out into the air, willing it to be visible." He did, and and it was me
he showed, and it was a good likeness, and lasted 20 seconds. I said,
"Well done, but did you have to copy everybody else?" He laughed. I
gave him a PK toy and accessories, and told him how to practice. I
said, "These two things you should be practicing for years, because the
strength in them is vital to support your other abilities, and can also
serve to protect you." He said, "Oh. Will you teach me how to fight?" I
said, "Yes I will, but not actually for fighting. It's for
concentration and mental discipline, which is also necessary for your
to use your abilities well. There is still one thing to discuss. Your
purpose. Why do any of this?"
He said, "Yes. All these are only tools. What good is having them if
they have no good use?" I said, "As it is for most tools, they can be
used for all you do, to do it better. So, the real issue is, what do
you want to do with your life, irrespective of the tools you will have
for it?" He said, "I don't know. I'm still learning about life." I
said, "Good answer. You stop learning, you start dying." He pushed his
love at me. I said, "I feel that. It least it wasn't my grinning face."
He laughed. I said, "To know what you want, it would help if you
understood what other people want, and why. So, what makes a person, a
person, as different from all animals?" We discussed that. Then I said,
"It's getting late. You should be going home." He said, "I didn't
realize the time, it's so interesting with you!" I said, "A caution.
Your practice should be secret. It can cause some bad feelings and fear
in others. Don't test your family with that. Yes, your father knows a
little, but we don't know how much more he will take, before he fears
you, and you do NOT want to cause that." He said, all wide eyed, "I
understand. But the other teaching, like we talked about people?" I
said, "Some, yes. Some will cause fear also, for a person who
understands more than people think others should, of other people. They
can become very defensive of who they think they are, no matter how
mistaken they are. More actually." He almost said wow. I said, "Same
with Marcel, with the wow." He had to laugh.
I said, "Knowledge is dangerous. People fear what they don't know or
understand. You cause that in them, your life might be in danger.
People like us have been murdered by the thousands in other lands
because of this. Burned alive. Try not to start that here." He said,
"Oh! I didn't understand that before. I'll be careful, I promise!" I
said, "Don't make me have to bury someone I love." He cried, and we
hugged with love.
At the front door, I said, "I've made an arrangement. Remember the
escorts at the wedding?" He said, "For ME?" I said, "See anybody else?"
He grinned and poked me. I said, "For now, one of my own people. When
we have an established schedule, one of the other, er, professionals
will do it. He said, "You mean, a criminal?" I said, "Not at that time,
yes. They offered." He stared at me, in awe. I said, "I told them you
were my student. Out of respect, and yes, some love, they offered this
service. The other two crime bosses, well, one was recently killed by a
failed assassin. The other is still recovering his few wits from a
visit from Marcel and I." He laughed well.
He said, "I could live here with you?" I said, "That could be
convenient, and an assistant in my teaching of medicine here would be
very helpful, but you wouldn't have much friends your age here." He
said, sadly, "I don't actually have any. I'm too different from them,
and the older boys don't respect younger boys." I said, "Your parents
just lost a child to another household." He said, "Oh! I should have
thought of that!" I said, "You would have, very intensely, the moment
you told them." He said, "I see that now. I have to learn to think in
advance of things like that, or I will hurt people." I said, "And hurt
few hints eventually, and they will even suggest it to you then. Before
that, you will have time to think of some additional justifications. I
see. We call it the situation manager ability." He said, "I really want
to learn that!" I said, "You will." He left with the escort, which was
actually one of my presences.
I said to Mom, "Got more of the feathertop world action." She said,
"Push." I did, and she said, "You've GOT to share this with the world!"
I said, "I will. Be including the first image projection lessons." She
said, "Oh, I see. Setting up some more management of psis." I said,
"Most of them don't practice. They might with this, thus enabling
greater control of all their abilities, making them safer. Most won't
be able to do anything useful with it, but the effort is beneficial."
She said, "Including the emotion sensing, and how it really is to live
with it. That's even more important." I said, "Yes. We don't want to
create another Rang's world." She said, "Right. You love that boy." I
said, "Who don't I love?" She grinned, and said, "True. Marcel is quite
some man. I like him a lot. Going to share this with Dawn?" I said,
"When it's done, or she'll be constantly pestering me for updates." She
said, "And I won't?" I growled, and she poked. Then we kissed and
hugged.
