Hi Insane
Yes of course it is possible to post via tor into your news provider!
I had read that the latest stunnel had caused problems but did not have
any problems with it myself.
At the moment you are using stunnel to make the encrypted connection to
your news server.
The need for stunnel is because Powerpost does not support an encrypted
connection directly to news server.
Your set up is Powerpost/stunnel news server.
This has the advantage that your own ISP cannot monitor/see the content
of your upload , so it is better than a direct open connection feed into
the news server.
Some newsreaders such as Agent support this direct connection without the
need to configure Stunnel to do the encrypting.
Be aware that your ISP would still know whom you make a upload connection
to
And your news provider will also know The IP address of the machine
connecting on their encrypted port.
A better but "slower" solution would be to use sockcap combined with
stunnel to rout your encrypted connection through the tor proxy servers.
The news provider then can only log the IP of the last IP address of the
proxy chain of the tor network, which uses 3 nodes by default. (power
post/stunnel/tor123 /news provider
Remember that if the news server have a true identity of the person who
signed up the account then if they want to investigate any matter
concerning the account they will have an address to begin their enquiry.
(but not having the true connecting IP address gives a modicum of
deniability but they will still come knocking)
The first tor node will know the IP of the machine connecting at the
beginning but not the content or the final destination of the connection.
So this solution would benefit from using a pre pay card for sign up and
an address/name other than your own, then "never ever" make a Direct
connection with the news account.
A further improvement would be to pay for (anonymously?) a commercial
proxy tunnel service and manually configure this to connect to the first
of the Tor network onion nodes, but what ever your machine connects to
first in the chain will have the IP address of the connecting computer.
(Power post/stunnel/commercial proxy/tor123/news provider.)
If you need further help configuring or programmes posted you only have
to ask
Remember nothing is completely safe and the best option is to post within
the laws where you live
