Stephen's Private Blog #2
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Now he is writing to an
artificial intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his
school for gifted students, which he started attending in 2016.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 10 in this story, before Thanksgiving of year 1 of his
special school.

Dear Geenee,
I didn't know much about things of the normal world before I came to
school. Now I know how really different it is. We have things nobody in
the world has, like Port-Alls and memory crystals and mind/computer
interfaces. They were all invented by my great grandfather who had my
name. They think it is me who has HIS name. Well I am not giving it
back to him. LOL
I found out regular kids go to school for 12 years. Then some of them
go to college for 4 years. Then a few go for 2 more years for a
master's degree. Then a very few do more studying and research and some
years later get a doctorate, which is a Ph.D. Students here can do all
that in 2 years. Wow! Then we do it all over again with different
subjects. People who have Doctorates are not called Mister or Miss, but
are called Doctor. That's not good enough for us. We have something
different when somebody has 3 or more Ph.D.s in very different
subjects, and writes a good paper which combines one or more subjects,
called a Scholarate, so they are called Scholar instead of Doctor. We
have some of them here.
I have 2 problems. My extra hearing is not good for people's privacy.
That was bad enough. Now I am hearing their thoughts. I do NOT want to!
I'm going to ask Tomba about it. My other problem is I'm bored. I learn
too fast, and I have to fill my time with physical activity to make up
for it, but I can't do as much as I want to because it makes me tired.
I am the best fighter my age and a few years older, and the best
dancer, too. I can walk wires, and take apart guns blindfolded. I don't
know why we should learn how to do that, because I never heard of a
blind gun. I hope you think that was funny. I'm going to ask to study
gymnastics. Then Ice skating. I wonder what they will say about that.
I just noticed something. The Creative Writing and Composition
crystal I just took, is working. I can see my writing improve while I'm
writing this. Interesting. I didn't know it would work this fast. I
don't think it does, for the other students.
Some of the students look at me strangely, when they think I won't
notice. I know some of that is sexual. I would like to do something
about that, but I don't know just what, yet. It could be fun. Who
should I pick first, a boy or a girl? It would be easier for it to be a
boy, because we share locker rooms and bathrooms. We already hug each
other, and they all like my hugs very much. I asked Tim why people like
my hugs more than they like other people's. He said "Because you put
your love in them so much, they can feel it, even people who don't feel
emotions like some do. That they know you like doing it, makes it even
better." Like proving it, we sat together and hugged. We didn't
complain.
