The Adventures of Stevie #179
These stories were told to me by friends and other people. Some of them
are true. Some of them are only partly true. Some of them should have
been true. LOL
My first post about Stevie ("Call me Stephen!") was when he was 12 and
in summer camp and was told by another camper. This was from a time
before computers would fit on a desk and when people communicated with
friends in other countries by actual letters sent through the postal
service. When children did this those friends were called "penpals".
Carlos is Stevie's penpal in Argentina and knows English. This is a
fictional contrivance to enable Stevie to tell us his stories because
he isn't here in person. I think.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Stevie's school is for gifted children who don't fit in regular schools.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stevie is 14 in this story, after year 4 special school, in the Summer.
The Adventures of Stevie #179 "Camp Visit"
Dear Carlos,
I contacted Mr. Insaneforboys at the summer camp, and scheduled a
visit for when there would be a dance evening social. Chad had
permission to come with me, and so did Pete. We ported to the
director's office early in the morning, and then went to breakfast in
the dining room. Mr. Insane announced then, "We have some special
visitors with us today, Stephen, Chad, and their friend Pete. Lets make
them welcome." They did, with some clapping and cheering. Well, not
just some. I think Davie was the loudest, with Bone and Mac second.
After breakfast, we went to our usual cabin. It was the same group of
campers and counselors, but they held back, because they didn't know
what to make of Pete. I contacted Rod, and told him Pete was ours all
the way, so Rod came over and hugged and kissed us, with some monster
grabbing, including Pete, who returned that with enthusiasm.
Then the cabin went wild. I started to run and dodge them, squeaking
like a frightened mouse, "Help, they're after me! Please save me from
these hungry beasts." Bone said "I'll save you!" I let him grab me, but
he didn't let go. I said "You call this saving me?" He grinned and
said, "From them, yes. From me, hell no!" We all laughed at that.
Jeremy said "Form a line, so we can all get a chance to hug and kiss
them." They did, but there was a lot of monster grabbing, too. George
didn't want to let go of Chad, who had to promise to see his kitten
pictures later. We all had boners, so naturally we had to take care of
them, which we did in a big pile on the floor. While we rested, some of
us cried, too, with happiness.
Then we went to our first activity, which was for the whole camp. A
dog show! With all my furry friends, who all came to me very excited to
see me again. Do did Debbie. We couldn't kiss, but we held hands, and
didn't care who saw it. Chad did that with Wanda, too. I kept telling
Debbie "I love you." Girls never tire of hearing that, if you mean it.
I did, a lot. Then I whistled and called with my mind for some birds to
come circle above our heads. Then I waved my arms and sent them around
the camp in complicated patterns, and then let them go. There was
applause. Then it was time for the dogs. They lined up and one at a
time. They bowed and laid down spread apart. Then they took turns
jumping over one another. They stopped, and I replaced some of them
with campers for the dogs to jump over. Then some older campers made
circles with their arms for the dogs to jump through, in complicated
patterns. We did that and more, for half an hour. Then I waved my arms
at the campers, to come praise and pet the dogs to thank them for the
show, which they did. Then the campers went to their usual activities.
All but Debbie and Wanda. With Chad and Pete, we sat together on my
favorite hill, and talked.
I said to Debbie, "I wish we were older. Then we could really be
together." She said "Yes." Then I got an idea. I said "I just had a
thought. I want to give you something, but I have to make it first.
After our dance demonstration tonight, while the others are dancing."
She said "What is it?" I grinned and said, "I don't know yet. It
depends on what I can do. I've never done this before, so we will just
have to see how it turns out. Besides, it's the thought that counts,
and we are pretty good at counting." She said "Yes we are." We sat that
way till lunch, just being together. We sat together at lunch, too.
After lunch, during rest time in the cabins, Chad, Pete, Rod, and I
had a meeting with the director. I said "I have plans, big plans, for a
worldwide organization to find and train psychic adepts, to help
prevent disasters, such as interference from other intelligent
lifeforms. Our office will be linked by porting, and other secret
technologies I've invented and will invent. This will need money.
Billions. I only have access to 3 million now. I can't let my best
inventions loose on the world, so that kind of income is lost to us.
I'm looking for ideas for other ways to earn lots of money, legally,
which I can present to Jan, our finance expert to manage. One of the
things I'm doing now, is writing. The book about dogs is done. So are
some books in other areas, such as poetry and science fiction. I can do
one a week, if my voice for dictating doesn't give out."
Mr. Insane said "Well, can you do dowsing?" I said "I haven't, except
to find missing people, but it's a basic ability in most people. So I
think we could do that pretty well, for other things, too." He said
"Here is a diamond on my ring. Put it's qualities in your mind, and all
of you turn your backs, and one by one come to the globe and touch
somewhere in North America where the best deposit of them is. Then we
will compare results." We did that, and he showed us where we all had
touched. It was in Northern Canada. Pete said "I was hoping for
something warmer." We laughed. I said "Now that we know how well this
works, we can do it for anything of value, with maps of increasing
detail." I said to Mr. Insane, "Thank you very much for the idea!" He
said with a grin, "Now you know how I could afford to buy this camp.
Dowsing for gold out West." I said "If we have to mine, we will need a
company for that, and somebody to run it. Would you consider that?" He
said "Sorry, no. I'm too old for that kind of thing. But thank you for
the offer." I said "Anytime you want to help with anything, let us
know." He grinned and said, "I will!"
On the way back to the cabin, I said, "This is great. A big project
for our special abilities where I'm not needed. I can work on my
inventions now, without worrying about this." I hugged them, which
isn't easy when you are walking in a group. I had to use some
levitation to keep from tripping.
Your friend,
Stephen
