[Information based on the timeline I worked up in '96. You can google
for it if you're bored enough.]
Menolly wrote "a song about firelizards" after seeing the mating
flight on 2515.2.21 (the same day Elgion arrives).
She rescued the clutch on 2515.4.6, and impressed on 2515.4.8.
This suggests a few possibilities:
1) The "song about firelizards" was The Firelizard Song (before
Robinton tinkered with it) with her own fanciful lyrics, and
life decided to immitate art.
2) She wrote another song (Elgion does report several unattributed
works) based on the events of 4.6 and stashed it in the Harper's Room
before leaving on 4.8.
3) She thought up new/revised lyrics for the 2.21 song after 4.6 and
put the revised song in the Harper's Room before leaving.
