used VLC to convert to wav and then wav to (320)mp3 using MHAC.  I
found that acceptable.
 I never could get Audacity to work on my pc that uses a pci
audio add-in card(ASUS).  Never finds the audio stream and I couldn't
figure it out; gave up.
 VLC is a SOB too.  I somehow managed to get a 128Kbps
mp3...one time, and never could duplicate that again(trying to up the
bit-rate).  You can't change the "container" to mp3.  (frustration!)
 I pissed away about 3 hours there.  It's ok, I did get an
acceptable result - finally.
