I don't have a 'problem' with AVI files but I do with the above
mentioned because of a low 600k bitrate when they were ripped in 2012.
The 'blocking' because of the low bitrate is very distracting. And
using unblocking filters on the files just makes them more soft and
blurry. We've come a long ways in 4 years and all my request was, if
the OP still had the original uncut shows (which, in essence don't
exist to the public - although Hulu 'is' streaming them now) if he
would re-rip them to a better format / higher bitrate for today's
displays. I'd even be happy with 'these' on AVI if the bitrate was
close to 2000k. They'd look pristine. MGM has made it clear they never
plan on releasing the last 3 seasons.
I didn't ask for a different 'extension' - I asked for a higher
bitrate. So using a 'video converter' was a rather silly response.
Sorry, but these Green Acres files look pretty bad from my WD Media
Player via HDMI to my Pioneer Kuro 60 inch HD TV. That's what I meant
by 'translate' - didn't expect my verbage to befuddle posters who are
still living in the past.
I suspect the lower rate was to keep the files small but that
shouldn't be an issue these days either. AVI's were great in their
day, MKV's and MP4's are so much better today and there's hardly an
argument there.
