Consumer confidence is within striking distance of its worst in
weekly polls since late 1985 for the third straight week.

The ABC News Consumer Comfort Index stands at -52 on its scale of
+100 to -100, 2 points from the lowest on Jan. 25. The index has spent

over 1,220 weeks of polls, with eight of those coming this year alone.

Positive ratings of the buying climate dropped this week, down 4
points to 22 percent, matching the largest one-week drop ever. In 23

times. The other two components of the index - ratings of the economy
and personal finances - held near their historic lows.

unemployment rate increased in June to 9.5 percent, the highest in 26
years. In a separate measure, the government reported that 467,000

first half of the year, 3.4 million jobs have been cut from the

Uh, huh, uh ---- Sarah Palin.  Palin.  Uh, Bush.  Oh, I hate Bush.
Don't you?  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

So, what? Did you have so much confidence in Obama's ability that you
thought he would have the giant mess the republicans made all fixed in
five months? I know Obama is good but he's not that good. No matter if
he does everything right it is going to take several years to repair the
damage done by the right wing policies and mistakes of the Bush
administration. On the other hand, by not having fixed all our problems
in the first six months in office it gives you something to whine about.
It could be a lot worse though. We could still have republicans in
charge. In which case they would still be following the same policies
that got us here and they would still be digging us even deeper into a
hole. How to fix the world's problems; how about tax cuts? That's the
solution to all the problems in the world, isn't it? At least that is
what republicans think.
