He knew exactly what was happening, as symbolized in his conversation
ostensibly concerning Cisar & Locke. Jeremy Bentham was prepared to
kill John Locke, so on finding out that it was Bentham and not Locke
in his presence, Benry killed Bentham. Locke was indeed not on flight
316, but met them on Hydra when they landed. As to Bentham, dead is
dead.
