Just checked the About This Group page which has posting stats for
this group and it looks like something strange is going on. If, let's
say since 2000 the stats are some kind of indicator of how interesting
TV is to posters, then it seems that since January of this year the
tube hasn't been very interesting compared to the previous year. The
figures have been noticeably, if not considerably, down for the last 5
months compared to last year, and it even never has been 5 consecutive
months of a downturn. So far this month, it looks like we'll have
another big shortfall compared to last May. This "interest indicator"
gains some kind of credibility when you see how much of an uptick
there was in 2005 compared to the previous year, perhaps no doubt due
to first season hits Lost and Desperate Housewives at the time.
Interestingly, this downturn since January seems to coincide with a
downturn in network ratings, especially since March, which already has
been noticed and written about by paid professional TV watchers. So
what's going on? The beginning of the end? Check the stats here:
