It is true, the closed caption information is encoded as digital data
into each frame of the picture and decoded, it works just like the
teletext service which is encoded at the top of the frame in the first
few lines of the scan.
As for your problems viewing photo cd's and dvd's i am not sure what the
problem is, as I have seen photo dvd's working on dodgy old bush
portables, have you tried the photo-dvd in other machines to see if it
is simple a problem with your machine ?
