That's right...just like the publisher of a newspaper, a publication
written for the public (not the root word) that seeks to publicize
information about the world around us, will often print hieroglyphs and
pictograms instead of straightforward latin letters.  Sometimes its
better to fill newsprint with stuff that only the people with last
week's cypher code from page 28 next to the comics can understand.

It happens all the time.  Better get used to it.
