ANNE FRANKENSTEIN PHILOSOPHICALLY REFLECTS
Hi. It's me, again. Anne Frankenstein.
You remember? The cheerful, little optimistic girl from Amsterdam
who wound up in Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen and then died, horribly?
Oh, God, I had thought that "Auschwitz" was a kind of sausage
like "weiner schnitzel", or a kind of sandwich, or maybe a
kind of dog like a Dachshund. Those were the innocent days,
my friend, of wine and roses and sausages and sandwiches.
I just wanted to bring you up-to-date on everything that's been
happening since I died and what it's like after you die. It is
not what you think. At least, it's not like most people would
think, regardless of whether they are Christians or Jews or
atheists.
I didn't want to come back to Earth, at first, but I guess that
morbid curiosity got the better of me. You know, it is like
watching a really bad movie, but once you have sort of made an
investment in watching this much of it, you want at least to see
how the story ends.
Oh, God.
I don't know why I even say 'Oh, God' anymore when I can't
believe it anymore, but I guess it is just a habit.
I felt morbidly drawn to Japan. After I read some newspapers
over a guy's shoulder on a subway train in Jersey City (I am
invisible, now) and found out that I was right, that they really
did learn how to build uranium bombs during the war, I just had
to see the place where the Americans had dropped one.
Then there was Fukushima, like an accidental, mini-Hiroshima,
happening like a lingering bad spirit that has not been
exorcised, like a wound that caused an infection affecting
another part of the same body. It is embarrassing how it sounds
so much like a profanity to Western ears, but it would not be
right to make jokes about it.
When I died, I thought at least that maybe it was part of God's
plan to compensate by giving my Jewish people a safe, happy,
untroubled homeland, forever, like a happy ending to the story.
Oh, God.
Oh, God, there I go again. Sorry.
I went to Japan by way of Sakhalin in Russia. It's real
close-by. They are even thinking of building a tunnel from
Sakhalin to Japan.
Actually, Sakhalin was Japanese at one time, but Japan and Russia
had some nasty wars. I'm glad that Russia helped to liberate
Berlin, but they've been pretty nasty themselves about acquiring
and subduing territory, just like Germany and Japan and the U.S.
and England and just about everybody.
No wonder that Chekhov said that Sakhalin was like "hell"
only frozen-over.
Yoshihide Suga says police are investigating to see who
mysteriously destroyed 265 copies of my diary in 31 municipal
libraries in Japan last Friday.
OK. I have a confession to make. I admit it. It was me.
I just couldn't stand looking that silly, old diary that I wrote
when I was a little girl. It is more embarrassing than my high
school yearbook picture. Why do people always want to drag
that out? Just to embarrass me?
It was sugary like Coca Cola. People want to believe it like
they want to drink so much Coke, but it just doesn't ring true
and I just couldn't take it, anymore. Sorry that I threw a
tantrum, like all the times that I tore Leviticus out of the
hateful Gideon Bibles, and flushed it down toilets. I was
rebelling against the madness of it all.
Everybody thinks it was an anti-Semitic thing, but I think that
is just a matter of anti-semitic semantics. How can they accuse
me of being anti-Jewish when I *am* Jewish? I suppose that
Jewish people can be anti-Jewish just like closeted gays can be
some of the most vocal and extreme anti-gays, but anyway that
wasn't the case, here.
Do I not laugh? Do I not cry? When you prick me, do I not
bleed? That makes me Jewish, Jewish, Jewish even if I weren't
Jewish.
I wish that they had an Oppression Olympics. Jewish people
would get the Gold, for sure. Well, OK - maybe gay people
would beat us out, I admit.
I was SO depressed when I found everything that happened since
World War II. The Korean War, the Vietnam War, Sept 11, Katrina,
the BP Oil Spill, the Iraq War. The list goes on.
There is a bright spot, though. At least I found my marbles.
Things had been so crazy in Auschwitz that I was really afraid
that I was going to lose my marbles.
I'm not entirely by now the little monster-girl that you
probably think.
I know what I had said once when I changed into an anti-optimist:
"Are things hopeless? Oh, hell no.
Things are so far beyond hopeless
that is it beyond description."
But I have concluded that is not really, ever *entirely*
hopeless, no matter how entirely hopeless it would appear.
Do you remember the story of the cheery little boy who was
so incurably optimistic about everything (like me) that his
father tried to cure him of it by giving him a pile of shit for
Christmas? The little boy was DELIGHTED and eagerly digging
through the pile, saying, "with all this shit, there must be
PONY in there, somewhere!"
After I died, I found out that reality is sort of like that.
At first, I couldn't figure out how an obviously godless,
existential hell of a world could still seem to have a kind of
design to it, almost as it it had been made for us to live in.
Thank God for science. I can see that they've been making
progress in understanding things, since the war. Religious
people think that they have all the answers, so stop looking for
the real answers, and never learn, or grow, or make positive
changes because of that.
I began to realize why the world was both so marvelous and awful
at the same time. Not because of any clash of opposing cosmic
forces, as religious superstitionists think.
When I was dying, I thought that I would become just unconscious
and feel, think nothing at all. I was shocked when I didn't.
At least, it didn't seem that way. It all seems so clear to me,
now.
Reality is totally crazy. Not just me. Reality itself. It is
utterly mind-blowing, how wild and crazy it is. Fascinatingly
freakish. And it goes on forever.
Reality is a kind of random number generator, iterating to
infinity. Like monkeys on type-writers, only instead of
generating words or numbers are generating particles and
different laws of physics.
Most of what it generates is random garbage and total shit. But
the good news is, even though we live in existential shit, at
least it is INFINITE shit.
And in the context of infinite shit, I assure you that there not
only can be, but MUST be, WILL be, a pony in there, eventually,
somewhere.
It is always possible to be conscious in the context of infinity
because eventually the random patterns of atoms and molecules
could put you together again, in the same or any one of ever-so
slightly altered infinite forms. The sun might burn out first,
and new universes born, and quintillions of years passing, but
you just won't notice all that. You'd be amazed how quickly
that time can pass when you are dead. There is hardly even
such a thing as "time". It will seem to you like it is instant.
One other nice thing is that you can learn to sort of "surf"
through these worlds. That's what I'm doing now. I want to
leave Germany and become a California girl like Patty Duke.
Maybe I should visit the Olympics on the Black Sea. Or get
a sailing boat and sail the Gulf of Mexico. So many infinite
possibilities from which to choose.

I only learned about Helen's socialist views in 1999, when I was
in a Vietnam vets' discussion group online. One of the
"oldtimers" had been a CIA agent based in Saigon from 1960-1975,
and he was a curmudgeonly old codger who was rabidly anti-
communist. When I posted something there about my admiration for
Helen Keller, he shot back some nasty stuff about her political
views. I'd never even heard about that, or didn't recall it as
part of what I knew of her life.
He was apparently doing the smear job his controllers wanted him
to about her, even so many years later. Helen Keller -- a truly

On September 1, 1983 over the Sea of Japan, just west of
Sakhalin island over prohibited Soviet airspace, the Russians
unleashed their EM focused WMD on KAL flight 007. All 269
passengers and crew aboard were killed, including Lawrence
McDonald, a sitting member of the United States Congress who was
a well known anti-soviet, John Birch society member and
conservative democrat who was just off his recent discussion on
the CFR and a conspiracy to create a One World Government and
financial power. Days before his death he appeared on CROSSFIRE.
On December 12, 1985 Arrow Airlines DC-8 jet aircraft at Gander
International Airport, Newfoundland. In destroying the aircraft
as a demonstration that Gorbechevs 1985 schedule had been met
and the Americans were completely unaware. The Soviets killed
248 U.S. Army troops and 8 civilian crewmembers.
January 28th, 1986, Soviet EM warfare once again directed
against the United States was successful with the destruction of
the US space shuttle Challenger. The O-Ring story was a cover-up

But a leaked e-mail from a top Sakhalin Energy executive,
exhorting his pipeline engineers in the style of U.S. General
George Patton, has prompted one international newspaper to ask
its readers, "Is this the worst motivational memo ever?"
In the memo, deputy CEO David Greer borrows heavily from Patton,
lifting whole passages of a bloodcurdling speech delivered by
the gung-ho World War II general to his troops on the eve of D-
Day, in 1944.
"Lead me, Follow me or Get out of my way," Greer writes to his
staff in a phrase lifted straight from Patton's speech.
"Success," the e-mail then says, "is how we bounce when we are
on the bottom."
When everyone of you were kids, I am sure that you all admired
the champion marble player, the fastest runner, the big league
football players," Greer writes, borrowing another line from
Patton, who was known by the nickname "Old Blood and Guts."
