I know some here will see this as a flame ... but it's not meant that way -
more a gentle reminder to all us "experts" out there.
Posters - (as with all facets of life) - come in all flavours. As do models -
there are big ones, hairy ones, beautiful ones ... and some less so (to some
viewers anyhow).
What they all have in common ... is that they are willing to take their own
time, bandwidth and self esteem to risk posting to one or many groups (hell....
sam I'm, matilda and mudbone (I'll include him) as well as some others post an
incredible amount to an incredible number of groups).
They are the people who keep the groups going - not the occasional posters and
especially not those who use the groups to ...(you know the rest).
My feeling (for what it's worth - not much I know) is ... that if the groups
had shareholders ... shares would be issued based on the number of posts each
member contributes to the groups (not according to how long someone has been
around flinging insults). I know Mud can be a bit of a maverick and tends to
cross post more than he should .. (but then so do many others).
Like them or hate them ... they are all contributors .... and as such they have
a say.
If you don't like them (like every other poster's ID) they can easily be
avoided by using a filter (also known as a "kill" file by the more inadequate)
to exclude them from your download.
I use this very method to exclude some of the more blatant posters - and it
works well.
The "experts" on the other hand are a fair sized group of individuals who
contribute nothing - yet feel they have the right to belittle those who do post
or appear in posts. Whenever you think ... I've not seen a post from..____ for
ages .... It's generally thanks to one of the "experts" that they have
stopped. Good job guys!.
They generally also take great satisfaction in recommending "grown up browsers"
which have the very exclusion facilities they seem unable to master
themselves. And even more pleasure in insulting posters or their models.
Surely when someone gives you something ..... you should thank them ...
If you take something on offer, and find you don't like it
(I exclude the pedes from this .... It's a pity that they can avoid detection
so easily... )
... just don't take another.....don't whine.
However good the poster - I don't like everything I see... that's called taste
- I don't slavishly accept everything from anyone.
However bad ...I often find there is something worth looking at.... but It's my
choice to look .... and my fault if I've wasted my own time looking ... and
found nothing ... again .... If I then whine that the poster is rubbish ....
I'm actually criticising myself .....
So ..... How many shares do you guys have?
Next time you see something you don't like, try finding your browser's manual -
and read up on filters ..... rather that for the reply button.
Non-posters however are always fair game, no-one owes them anything - however
"expert" they consider themselves.
