The Carrie Fisher SNL episode was from when she hosted back in 1978. She
was wearing a gold bikini in a beach party movie spoof-- and of course
pantyhose (no shoes ).
Your point about the camera, etc. is well taken. Shows that were video
taped (as opposed to filmed) feature harsh lighting that can make bare
skin look pallid. Small flaws can be magnified. That's one of the
reasons you often see women wearing pantyhose with shorts, etc. on shows
that feature this video format.
A classic example is "Three's Company". Janet and Chrissy (apparently)
wore PH to bed! It's been said the Joyce Dewitt always insisted on
wearing PH because she wanted her legs to appear slimmer. Perhaps true
in part, but Suzanne Summers also seemed to wear PH a lot as well.
Again, video tape lighting can be harsh.
I do have the SNL clip of Carrie Fisher. I'll see about getting some
caps. I also have clips of the Denise Crosby scene.
I will post if someone has a site (provide URL) or perhaps a specifc
yahoo group (provide exact url).
