Disnah - the River Divina
You river of my ruined city
Who can fathom
Your depth and secrets
When your language is silenced
Your words and speech
Your whispering prayer
For years the same
Without ceasing or end
Day and night
Your flutterings - murmurs
Rocking in wonder
From the creation - to the present
Into eternity.
Generations
Have drunk from your waters,
Listened to every russel
Of your stream.
Plants
Animals and birds
Revelled and were reflected
In your mirror
Of crystal. -
Until Nazi murderers -
In Lithuanian waters; your
Sisters, brothers, the finest
Were drowned
Silenced forever.
