Thanks ! I wonder where I got the idea that it should be pronunced
wild-erness...
The fact is that, until he hears a word being pronunced by a native, a
foreigner can only guess, as the rules are not always clear...
It reminds me of a very commun mispronunciation in France : when referring
to a sweat shirt, most people say sweet shirt...
