No, I think Judy got it right.
I've heard "top it off" and "Let her have all she'll take," but "fill
it/her up" is the normal expression in the USA.
The thing is, Giuseppe, petrol/gasoline is a lot cheaper in the States
than it is in Europe. In the USA it's sold by the gallon, which is
3.785 liters. Top dollar price for American gasoline right now is right
around $2.50, which means that it costs about 53 Eurocents a liter,
according to my conversions.
The European Union doesn't like to talk about this much, of course. At
those prices, filling up the tank is rather more common there than it
is in Italy.
