Are there any native anthropomorphic (body part) maps in Brazil?
These maps were made by configuring the body of a god or goddess
over the area to be mapped. The name for each part of that body
became the name of the area or feature under that part. This produces
a scale !:1 "map" on which each named place automatically indicates
its approximate location and direction with respect to every other
place (on the same map) whose name was derived in this way.
In Alberta, Canada, there is a map of Napi (aka The Old Man), the
creator of the Blackfoot Indians, and of his wife (The Old Woman).
His skull is at Calgary. She is wearing her Medicine Hat.
There are similar Phoenician maps of Hermes (in Asia minor) and
Aphrodite (in north Africa).
