I have been using various Thinkpad with XP prof. You should be OK.
The cheapest is your hotel ADSL line! They usually do not charge for it, at
least in Tokyo.In Kyushu Nagasaki I had to pay.
Down town Tokyo a free and conveniont place is near Hibiya station on
Hibiyaline at Uchisaiwai-cho, 2-1-8 Shinei Bank Bldg. First floor (0ground
F) form 9am to 8pm.
The Shinagawa place I mentioned is at the SHinagawa Prince Hotel 4-10-30
Takanawa, Executive Tower on the 7 Floor.
