Solomon's Private File #457
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 36 in this story, in the Summer of 2062.
Solomon's Private File #457 "Jen And The Redheads"
START Page
I said to Jen, "Want to work a red planet?" She said, "Yes! How many
of them are there?" I said, "A lot. I stuffed those dimensions!" Grins.
I said, "Want to go straight to solo, or with me first?" She said,
"With you as much as possible. You know that." I said, "Knowing all,
doesn't mean we can't be polite. Except to politicians." She said,
"Yes. Can't forget those." We hugged.
We walked out from behind a building. A girl came running past us.
She turned to look at us. I said, "Hide behind us." Jen said, "He sure
is big enough for that." They grinned. Then some boys and a girl came
into view. They had been running. The girl said, "Have you seen our
friend Miatam?" I said, "What does she look like?" A boy said, "She's
wearing a blue shirt." Jen said, "Really a friend of yours? You don't
seem all that friendly to me." One said, "Oh yes, we're friends." I
said, "You don't lie very well. Are you criminals?" Girl said, "No,
we're not criminals!" I said, "So you weren't going to do anything bad
to Miatam?" One said, "She stole from us." Jen said, "What did she
steal?" They had to think of something. Jen said, "Really a lie, if you
have to think so hard to remember it. I think you should stop lying,
because it makes you look very stupid." I said to Jen, "Maybe that's
how they are. Let's see if they're smart enough to stop lying." She
said to me, "You may be right. They shouldn't let what we do to liars,
influence them in making their choice."
I said, "But you mentioned it. Now they will think about it. If they
can. Won't be nice, though." Jen nodded, and said, "Painful. Will it
leave a mark?" I said, fingering my Guardian wrist comp, "Should I set
it to that?" The gang started backing away. Jen said, "Good that it
works at a distance. They're making some." They ran away. I said to
Miatam, let's sit and discuss this." She said, "Where?" I said,
"There." I pointed to the sofa behind her, against a building. She
said, "I don't remember that being there before." We sat. She said,
"Were you really going to hurt them?" I said, "No. Interesting to make
them think we would, though." She grinned. Jen said, "You know we speak
the truth." Miatam became afraid. I said, "We have that ability, too."
She said, "Oh!"
Jen said, "One of them is causing a parent to want to come here and
talk with us. A bigger bully." Miatam said to me, "Are you going to
fight with him?" I said, "No. We'll try to not let that happen, but if
a fight does, Jen will do it. I'm Solomon." She said, "Why her?" I
said, "Because he would think she would be less able to fight. She'll
really change that. He'll like that a lot less if she stops him, than
if I do it." She said, "I think so. Good plan." Grins. Jen said to her,
"You don't have a father, and your mother doesn't care well for you."
She said, "How do you know that?" Jen said, "We'll tell you later,
after you tell us about you and how you live. There's a problem here.
It should be corrected." Miatam nodded, and said, "Mother is afraid of
me. She hates me! She beats me for no good reason!" I said, "We know
how that hurts. We can feel it as you do." She cried. We hugged her
with love, and she was very surprised. She said, "You love me!" Jen
said, "We love everybody. He's coming. Let us to the talking." Grins.
A man came into view from around a building in this small industrial
area. A boy was with them, and said to him, "That's them!" Jen stood,
and moved to meet them. The man looked past her to me, and said, "Did
you threaten my boy?" I said to him, "Talk to Jen, while I sit with the
girl you son's gang was chasing and was about to murder." He said, "I
don't believe you!" Silence. He said to Jen, "What do you know about
this?" She said, "We were walking here. A girl was running in fear. She
hid behind us. Watch this wall. I'll project what I recorded." She did,
showing the gang. He could hear what we said, but not see us.
He said, "You DID threaten him!" Jen said, "No. That doesn't meet the
legal definition of a threat. You're missing something. Your boy was
going to commit a serious crime that we prevented. Shouldn't you be
thanking us for that?" He said, "I don't care about that. You don't
threaten my boy and get away with it!" She said, "You don't care that
we stopped him from going to prison, like you did? Don't you care about
your son at all?" He said, "That worthless idiot! No." Jen said, "He
obviously wasn't smart in bringing you here, but I don't think he's an
idiot. You couldn't make him THAT much like you." While the man was
trying to control his temper, I said to the boy, "You didn't, did you.
Somebody else told him?" He nodded. Jen said, "Confirmed. Not an idiot.
Fortunate it doesn't always run in the family." He tried to slap her.
She took the arm and flipped him. He laid there in surprise. I grinned
at the boy. He tried not to grin back.
The man got up and ran at her. She flipped him again. She said to
him, "If only you had learned how to fight like a REAL man." That made
him even more angry. But cautious. He tried to punch her in the face
with a roundhouse. She blocked it with her leg, and then, without
bringing it back, she slapped him in the face with her foot, twice.
Miatam said, "Wow!" I said to her, "We hear that a lot. Jen's one of my
best students. She doesn't hate it when I say that." Chuckles. The man,
hearing that, started backing off, and was preparing to leave. Jen said
in command voice to him, "You will stay and listen to me. You have
attacked a woman you believed was defenseless. You have given up your
right to defend yourself. You will not harm another person except in
the defense of the life of another person. Should you feel a desire to
cause another person pain, you will feel it yourself as if it had
happened to you. You will not speak against any member of your family,
or any person who has not acted unjustly against you. So you have
heard, to you will obey! Return to your home." He started walking,
clearly not wanting to.
Jen motioned the boy to her. He came, but wasn't all that confident
of being safe that near to her. She said to him, "Your father was never
much of a real man. Now he's less. You're young, but you have to grow
up now. Do you understand?" He nodded. She said, "You'll have to take
care of your family. That means you can't risk going to prison by doing
bad things anymore. They need you. Play around, you'll hurt them. You
can be a real leader, being responsible. Come to me." She opened her
arms. He did, and almost fainted there. When he could stand alone, she
said, "Better if you make it home before he does, so they can hear the
truth from you, before he lies." He said, "Right! That's smart!" She
said, "And that's how you have to be now. Always think what could
happen, and prepare for it. Go, and do good." He ran off.
I said to Miatam, "This is the kind of work we do. We have a school."
She said, "I want to go to it!" Jen said, "We knew that." Grins. I
said, "Now we'll go see your mother." She said, "She won't let me go.
She gets money for me." Jen said, "That she uses for drugs." She said,
"How did you know that?" Jen said, "We know all that happens on this
world." She said, "Wow!" Jen said, "We know that, too." Chuckles. I
said to Miatam, "This time I'll do the talking, because she would
rather talk to Jen." She said, "That's SO smart!" Jen said, "We're
geniuses. You are, too." She said, "Oh!" I said, "That's not really
genius talk." Grins.
She brought us into her very dilapidated house, and said, "Mom, we've
got guests. Come and meet them." I said, "She isn't hearing you. Drugs.
Do I have your permission to heal her?" She said, "You can do that? Oh,
PLEASE do it!" I said, "Done. Go to her and wake her, and tell her
about the healing. Help her to look better for her guests. We'll wait."
Ten minutes later, they came to the front room. Miatam did the
introductions well. Mother said, "Miatam said you healed me. Thank you!
But how?" I said, "Miatam has some unusual abilities. So do we, but we
are well trained in their use. We have a school. She's invited to
attend. It's far away. She'll have to live there." She said, "If she
goes, I won't have an income. I'll lose the house!" I said, "We'll take
care of that. We pay our students and their families. You'll have a
managed trust fund, that will pay you monthly, but there are
conditions. You must agree to have some implanted in your mind
restrictions against using illegal drugs. You're not addicted now. We'd
like to keep it that way." She said, "This is unbelievable!" Jen said,
"I agree, but it's all real." She hugged her, and helped her to sit.
She said, "You're holy!" I said, "Been called worse. Do you agree to
the conditions?"
She said, "I do!" I said, "Done. Would you like your house repaired?"
She said, "Whatever you want to do to help, I can't say no!" Grins. She
really noticed the changes. I said, "Outside is improved, too, but it
won't show until after dark." She said, "Thank you! Where is the
school?" I said, "That could cause a believability problem. You know
Miatam can detect lies." She nodded. I said, "You've noticed our
different hair color. We aren't from this world." We all looked at
Miatam, who laughed, and said, "The truth." I said, "We are unable to
lie or kill." Miatam said, "Truth. That makes me not needed for this."
Grins. I said, "We don't need to use space ships. We move between
worlds instantly, called teleporting. No, we don't need to use a
machine for that. Yes, she will probably learn how to do that. No, I'm
not reading your mind, although I can do that, easily. I've been doing
this a lot." Grins.
I said, "This is the only action I'll be doing with Jen on this
world. It's all hers now." Jen said, "Thank you, Solomon!" I said to
them, "We exist to serve, and for children the most. Miatam will visit
with you, probably monthly. If anybody causes you problems with any of
this, Jen will know, and they'll regret it." Grins. I said, "May Miatam
go to the school now?" They hugged, and Miatam and Jen vanished. I said
to the mother, "You wanted to say something to me privately." She said,
"Are you God?" I said, "That's complicated. I'm a part of God, and
still a real man with my own mind, even though I can use as many bodies
as I want to. I and my students work directly for God. You suspected."
She said, "I did. Thank you. For everything." I grinned, and said,
"You're welcome, for everything." I stood, and let my aura show before
I faded away.
Later, I said to Jen, "Not go as you expected?" She said, "Nothing
did! I knew all, but it's not the same. It doesn't predict at the
individual level." I said, "It'll get better at that, as you get used
to it, and it engages your mind more. Trust your enlightened flow. I
understand. Almost sink or swim." I said, "But it's not actually you
who would sink." She said, "Even more motivation!" We hugged. I said,
"Your command about feeling the harm he wanted to cause, even if it
didn't happen, is a new one. I've added it to the list. Great for
teaching." She said, "I was nervous with that one. Thanks."
I said to George, "Who's next?" He said, "Seth. Got a replacement for
him lined up, for FBI psi escort and bomb consequence. He's too much
for that now. When are you going to set them onto Originators?" I said,
"When they can handle a world proficiently, and we've made replacements
for them." He said, "Oh! Progression. Sounds good."
A woman walked into the political approval office, and said, "I want
Rose." Hawk said, "Sexual requests, down the hall. Oh. Sol liked that
one. An actual role reversal!" She chucked in spite of herself. She
said, "Still, I request that Rose do the interview." Hawk said, "This
isn't like a candidate approval, but like a real job interview. In
those, applicants don't get to choose who they spill their guts to.
That's actually a significant part of the evaluation. You don't get to
choose your boss or coworkers. We sure wouldn't want to skip that, so
we don't." She said, "I understand. Do you know when she will be doing
this?" He said, "I do, and I'm not telling. While we're exceptional, it
wouldn't be fair to make exceptions." She said, "Would you tell her, if
I request it?" He said, "I don't have to. She's monitoring, and her
opinion of you is dropping by the second." She said, "Thank you for
your time." He said, "You're welcome." She started to walk out. He
said, "You had your one chance with us." She stopped, and thought it
over, and then went back and sat down.
They did the interview. He said, "They will be told there's a
possible vetting issue. We detect lies. You don't have to tell me, but
they WILL require it from you, if they consider you for the job. I know
it's not fair, but politics doesn't even recognize that word." She
said, "I think I've misjudged you." He said, "You did. We're all
super-educated super-geniuses, and those who use this office are
enlightened. Of my generation, among us, I was third. Rose was second.
Stephen was out of sight." She smiled, and said, "I see." He said, "And
besides having a doctorate in psychology, I'm a registered Cleric and
lawyer. Can go privileged if you need it." She said, interested, "What
religion?" He said, "Navajo Shaman, but I know the others. You know Sol
would insist on that." She grinned, and said, "I'm not surprised. I
don't need privileged. I was molested as a child. I was actually sued
by the rapist for testifying against him! I needed a lot of counseling.
I still see one about once a year."
Hawk said, "You have a problem with men, which I could see. This
explains why. If you hadn't told me this, I would have recommended
against hiring you. Can't have somebody who will treat people
differently because of a personal problem. Gov really doesn't want to
sue itself." She had to smile at that. He said, "How do you feel about
me now, and this situation?" She said, "I was wrong. It was wrong with
what I wanted to do, and I see now it's actually a good thing." He
said, "There is one more step in this interview." He stood, and opened
his arms. She knew what to do, and was afraid, but she did come into
his hug. He flooded her with his love, and included some Ki enhancement
to help her with her problem. He helped her to sit, and waited. She
said, "You really ARE holy!" He said, "All of our group. Children of
Stephen are much more powerful, but that isn't who a person truly is.
You no longer need to be afraid of men. Gender isn't who we are. Only
our souls can be holy. Judge people by that part of them, and you will
judge truth. You're a better person than you let yourself believe. You
don't have to restrict yourself like that any longer. You know REAL
love now." She cried, and he hugged her.
He whispered in her ear, "Good thing my husband isn't the jealous
type." She had to laugh. He gave her a tissue. He said, "I'll say in
the report that you improved here. Well, they expect a lot of that."
She said, "I had heard, but that was about OTHER people. Wildest
dreams, and such. I don't know how to thank you!" He said, "You don't
have to. We exist to serve." They shook hands, and she left. I shifted
in, and said, "Great work!" Mom came and said the same thing, and we
hugged all around. I said, "You didn't think you could do it as well as
you think I could. Wrong! We all do what works. Different people do it
differently. With us, that does NOT mean worse. And that's one of the
reasons why I'm stepping back from these things. You needed to know
this. All did. But that role reversal was extra." He had to laugh. More
hugs with love.
