This is a representation of the best of the groundbreaking photographic essay, The Boy, as originally posted by Johnie.
I recall the very first time I saw a picture from this book.
It was the one of the curly-headed lad in dark briefs, standing on a tree stump, wearing a winsome grin.
I saw the photograph in one of my dad's photo magazines--I believe an American import.
It was an advertisement for the book.
It set my heart thundering in excitement, most terribly.
I was immediately smitten with love!
Or at least lust.
I was fifteen years old.
