Unfortunately, governments love this shit. They have been desperate to find
ways of controlling the internet - remember Carnivore? So IWF would be funded
or backed by government. Remember they have a little trouble getting support
from their censorship initiatives from US courts, so they can apply pressure instaed
by this so-called imdependent body. In the EU they have the data retention shit
and other spying initiatives to try to track citizens.
It's a only a short distance from "pedophile" and "terrorist"-justified initiatives
to being able to monitor and control all traffic. They criticize China; in reality they envy the censorship and oppression that the Chinese government gets away with. All part of the doublespeak.
During his recanting at the Nuremburg trials, Albert Speer warned that the
technology to come after WWII would enable monitoring and control of society
on a level that Hitler could only dream about. But the Nazis were well aware
that an explosion in technology was coming, and that it would give governments great power over communications and individuals.
We are now those citizens, and our governments want to use these tools for control.
