BTW VV just an addendum:
What I've said regarding javascript can be checked via google. I'm no
expert; but I do read up on some of these issues as fas as I am able. One
reason I posted this is that people in these groups sometimes seem to
be blissfully unaware of this very real trap. I strongly suggest never
browsing to any alleged "boy" site that requires the user to enable
javascript, java, flash, or especially Active-X in your browser, even if
browsing through a chain of proxies etc. Just don't go there. Active-X is
such a security danger (for anyone) that Firefox doesn't even support it.
Opera allows you to disable all these things very easily on its menus; I
think there are extensions for Firefox that will help switch all this
crap on and off easily also.
As I've said before, I feel it's better to encrypt and be both private and
anonymous as far as is possible rather than find oneself having to test
the legal boundaries of what is, or is not, considered cp in court in
these sexually repressive times. The truth is, LEA don't have have to
crack PGP (not cracked) or even work very hard at all when people enter
their actual credit card numbers into sites and/or surf to javascript
sting sites. Or when they email each other from a traceable email
account, or (worse) actually pass on personal details to each other, even
if encrypted. One party gets offered a deal to rat out the others -
bingo, all go down.
There used to be some webmail that did not use javascript - I remember I
found one years ago. The way to check is to try to use the webmail with
java and javascript disabled in the browser settings. Yahoo, for example,
simply won't work without the damnable stuff. I believe part of the
reason is that yahoo makes a point of logging IP addresses.
