I didn't do it, it was done as a fan group for me, but in spite of my
reluctance. Since it is there, I do make use of it from time to time, as it
is firstly a convenience, secondly a badge that at least I've been around
the block, and thirdly it annoys the sheer hell out of people like Bilbo,
who need killfiles and the like to be able to participate in Usenet with
equanimity.
Mainly, however, it is used by soc.singles' Michael Cranston, in his various
guises and the only reason I can think for him doing this, as he's no fan of
mine, is that it annoys the hell out of other people I cannot even identify
also.
