It's true. If you don't go to church you can never get excommunicated, just
like you can never get sacked if you never get a job.

I encourage people who have been kicked out of a church one way or another
to admit it's their fault. I've been doing that and I've been encouraging
casey to do that, but he thinks his Church was at fault. That having been
said, they were very nice to him. Mine would certainly have excommunicated
him for not attending worship there regularly without good reason.
His would probably not have excommunicated me. They didn't excommunicate his
wife for divorce, apparently. Pretty liberal they were. Not exactly strict
calvinism, whatever he says. Some odd mixture, typical American religious
mish mosh.
