Personally, I only noticed the activity in this group recently and
have spent a bit of time catching up. I quickly realized that your
posts were always worth downloading -- as were those from some others.
It seems that conversation is a dying art on Usenet! I notice similar
problems on other groups. And we know that people are a lot faster to
complain than they are to compliment and say thanks! And, to be
honest, I follow a lot of groups. Yeah, I know, I'm lonely and sad!
But the point is that I don't always have the time to participate in
discussions in all the groups. I do try to remember to say thank you
every now and then. I mean, I've tried to post on a regular basis and
found out how much work can go into it, especially if you're trying to
download from places at the same time. It boggles my mind how some
people find a way to do it -- I can't, and I'm disabled and home most
of the time! Of course, I'm also subject to bouts of fatigue, pain and
sleeping fits, so that cuts down on my available time, too!
And I also hope that you are mindful of people that just lurk. They
never post, they never comment, they just sit back and appreciate
everything that comes their way. Some of them just don't want to
spread their info on Usenet, some are worried about the security of
doing so, and some are just leeches! But most of them are plenty
grateful for all that you regular posters do to keep groups going --
Not to mention all the great things you post. I know that I've been
contacted by some of them by email in groups where I post regularly,
and they are almost always grateful and appreciative -- if a little
leery of how much they might giveaway in contacting me!
Anyway, thank you! And I'm sorry I haven't said so sooner!
