There is also a connection with Nelson in South Africa - he was a
midshipman when they berthed at Simonstown where he, and many other midy's,
carved their names on the beams of the naval sail-loft. Protected by
plastic it is an interesting relic of this great man. The sail-loft is in
the working area of the naval base at Simonstown but I understand that
special permission can be obtained to view this little bit of desicration
by Nelson.
