Love Lucy" was the Number 1 show on the air in the 1950's, and the
merchandising of hundreds of "Lucy-inspired" trinkets and toys were in
tremendous demand. At the height of the show's popularity, a person
could buy official "I Love Lucy" aprons and Lucy dolls. Thirty-two
thousand white, heart-bedecked aprons and 85,000 dolls were snatched
up by fans in one 30-day period in late 1952. The following year, a
