The shortest recorded adult male dwarf was Calvin Phillips, born on Jan 14
1791 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts USA. He weighed 2lb at birth and stopped
growing at the age of 5.
When he was 19 he measured 26.5 inches and weighed 12 lbs with clothes on.
He died 2 years later, in April 1812, from progeria, a rare disorder
characterised by dwarfism and premature senility.
The longest animal ever recorded is the giant jellyfish Cyanaea Arctica,
which is found in the north-western Atlantic Ocean. One specimen washed up
in Massachusetts Bay in 1865 had a bell diameter of 7.5 feet and tentacales
measuring 120ft, thus giving a theoretical tentacuclar span of some 245
feet.
The French composer Louis Jullien (1812-1860) was recorded as having the
most christan names, because all 36 members of a Philharmonic Society
insisted on being godfathers.
