Yes this is the case. Kings only, but his queen would be allowed to have
one arm on the chest. Others would have their arms down by their sides.
Strange to say that in the UK this is often the case where a man has his
arms folded but women down their side. I assume this is a family choice.
This was done so the King had his heart protected during transition to the
next life. Only after the opening of the mouth ceremony was he able to use
them. The heart was protected because it was belief that the heart did
what we know the brain to do, and vice versa, the soul was in the heart
and so it must be well protected until the weighing of the heart ceremony
in the presence of Anubis to determine whether the person was worthy to
enter the afterlife or not.
