As I used to sing it many decades ago.
This must be sung to the worship of copious slurpings of rough scrumpy, a
cornish pastie (Meat and Potato) dutifuly sliced open and filled with
fried onions and two thick sizzling hot sausages, over which is poured
tomato ketchup (it was in the 50s anyway). Start to walk towards Guzz
dockyard gates with the accompanying slurpers, and in between bites, sing
with great gusto, thereby achieving 2 things. (1) The enjoyment of
filling ones face after a good night out and (2) giving ample warning to
the Security on Guzz dockyard gate that they are being approached by a
raucous band of oggie guzzling matelots partaking of a national delicacy,
the disturbance of which will not be tolerated by those kindly old tars.
Half a pound of Flour and Lard
Makes a lovely Oggie
Just enough for you and me
Cor bugger Janner
OH how happy us will be
When we gets to the West Country
Where the Oggies grow on trees
Cor bugger Janner.
Jan being to things, the Christian name used in the Netherlands, or the
nickname given to Cornwall people.
Mercury.
