Dear Sean (NP-g17),
I've been busy all weekend and completely missed the Fort happenings
and I'm just now catching up.
Before you go, please think about something...
Number One - You are admired, respected and appreciated by everyone in
this group. Especially me.
Earlier this week, when you were posting your oldies for newbies, I
was thinking, 'Wow! For the first time in years, The Fort really is
beginning to feel like it used to years ago." A lot of that is because
of your unselfish posting. You have material that you've been sharing
that many people never have had access to, or in my case, haven't seen
for years. We all appreciate it. Thank you for making the Fort feel
like 'home' again.
Number Two - I think, for the most part, lurkers have been REALLY good
about not complaining about your password hints, etc. like they did in
abr. They seem to understand that it's on them to figure things out
and have been acting accordingly. YOU have forced them to be
self-reliant, through your warnings. You are the only poster I know
who has ever done that. That was just the medicine some of the lurkers
needed. Such effectiveness is something The Fort needs.
Number Three - I know you were already irritated with IFB. He had
previously aggravated you. So, ANY misstep by him was likely to
trigger anger on your part. Do you agree that this was true? Even if
it was a misunderstanding, the fact that HE said it was the last straw
for you. Correct?
Well, I certainly understand how you feel. There is a poster in this
group that affects me the same way. In fact, he slipped through my
kill filter only this past week and I was disappointed to see that
because I think The Fort is a better place without him.
BUT!
He has as much right to be here as I do. So I add the new entries to
the killfilter as they appear and hold my tongue. I have learned to
get along by ignoring those I dislike. It would be a simple thing to
put IFB in your kill filter and then you could post blissfully unaware
that he is saying things that would normally irritate you. My world
here in The Fort is a lovely place almost always free of Frogs with
Butts and Tooth Kittens.
The message: One bad apple doesn't have to spoil the whole barrel.
You are appreciated, you are needed, you are effective and you can be
forever free of Insane people, if that's what you want.
So, I urge you to stay. The Fort needs you. If you stay and thrive,
then The Fort will thrive and others, like your friend, R, may come
back and share like the old days. Maybe not, but The Fort with you
here is a better place that The Fort without you here.
Think about it...
Whatever you decide, stay safe and stay in touch,
Doc

PS- I love IFB, I appreciate him too. He is different than any other
poster. And at least he will admit that he is crazy.
