Your right it could be worded less tentatively so here it goes:
"It is recommended that you do not to admit here specifically what you
download that might be or could possibly contain something illegal
where you live. If you say in a post that you downloaded something, it
could count against you in a court of law, even if they can't find
anything on your computer. If you want to thank a poster for their
generosity in support of The Fort, you can and should do that in
general terms only."
Is that enough, professor? LOL No problem If you want to make any
changes.
Here is some more to think about including in some way or not:
The laws and enforcement of them where you live can change at any time.
What could be legal today could be illegal tomorrow.
There is another danger to be aware of. People who enforce the law
sometimes break the law to get who they want. Their victims can win in
the end, but their lives are ruined beyond repair. The best way to
avoid this is do not do anything that brings you to the attention of
the law.
All this means that you should never trust you are safe no matter how
much you know and how careful you are. Always look for new ways to
protect yourself.
