It's mentioned in the FAQ that Peter Tchaikovsky was a boylover who =
wrote his 6th symphony for his 13-year-old nephew. I heard it tonight on =
the BBC Proms on BBC2. I really enjoyed it.=20

It's a shame Tchaikovsky died 10 days after he conducted it. The actor =
Samuel West and a music critic, whose name I forget,  were speculating =
as to the cause of his death as, apparently, it seems to be unknown. =
Cholera? Suicide? Who knows? A myth even exists that Tchaikovsky wrote =
Pathetique forseeing his own death, a theory dismissed by the music =
critic. There certainly is a sense of tragedy about this symphony. =
Although, we had an interview of the conductor of the Bavarian Radio =
Symphony Orchestra, Mariss Jansons, saying that he didn't wanted to =
sweeten its lighter elements too much and make it over-sentimental. I =
wonder if the sweetness, though, was inspired by Tchaikovsky's nephew...
