You may recall my anguish in trying to "fix" Quicktime so I could again
play my old IV50 videos (and hopefully capture the rest of the series),
with no success. Someone suggested running QT Pro under OS9 (oh, yeah,
I'm a Mac guy), but QT states clearly that Pro will not run under OS9.
O.K., to get around to the point, I'm considering buying a cheap Netbook
so I have some way to get at those, as well as a some other Windows only
software. Checking eBay, I see that many (most?) Newbooks run Linux,
and that poses the question of whether one of those critters would be a
solution, or just another problem. I know zip about Linux; will it run
the Windoz programs that will play IV50? What about QuickPAR and other
basic decoding software? Some are advertised as running Windows XP,
which I would be comfortable with, but they are also much more
expensive. I will appreciate your thoughts or suggestions, as well as
those of any others reading this that may have some experience with the
subject. TIA!
