Good post Doc.
Here are some other things I remember (I think) from posts by other
people.
Laws change. News media doesn't have to announce it. You can get caught
by a new law the public doesn't know about or a new court approved
interpretation of it.
Law enforcement officials sometimes don't obey the laws or claim they
misunderstood the laws. They can arrest anybody they want to and take
their possessions and beat people to death ("he resisted arrest while
unconscious") and get away with it with any flimsy excuse if it isn't
on video. They *need* to do these things to us even if it ruins their
careers (officially but actions approved of by society) because they
get so emotional about pedos. Then after work they go home and beat and
fuck their own kids and convince themselves they are "normal" doing
that.
Police will do want they want to us even if we don't commit any crimes
and leave it to the courts straighten it out. By then our lives are
ruined. Which is what they want. It happened for us all to see in the
to catch a predator series on TV. People got arrested and some
confessed but the courts overturned the convictions because there were
no victims. The fake victims were all over 18 so no crime against a
child happened.
Some prosecutors want to test laws they think are not strict enough
(like anti-porn laws) by making up cases against people which they hope
they can use to redefine what is illegal porn. The fact this worked a
few times just gives them more and more reasons to keep doing it. They
don't care if it hurts innocent people they hate. They like it.
Chakotay could be a victim of this.
My opinion is people who enforce the laws often try to make or change
the laws to suit their own purposes (read "feelings") and they think
laws should only be enforced against other people however they want to
and never themselves. They love to punish people they don't like anyway
they can if the law and courts won't do what they want.
Power really does corrupt.
The best defense against LEA is don't be noticed by them. If you don't
do anything to attract their attention you can do what you like.
Unfortunately that doesn't leave that much in this world now.
