I am going to guess that one would not pour so much feeling into a mini-essay
and then ignore the questions and comments if anyone might respond, so I'll
assume, Jerry, you are reading this even if you choose not to respond.
I think you have captured correctly and eloquently the grant-game (under
whomever's nic it may appear). It has been clear for some time that the
elastic personage of Grant/Awake/Y-Not, etc, has nothing but contempt for
those who visit here. He (it) is irritating but it is the nature of a
mosquito bite and not a wasp sting.
It is difficult to know who 4sooth and Mikey are, really; ....(more Tolsons?
more of Cosmos's heads on the shelf?) They visit infrequently and often in
the midst of some paroxysm or other and as such, who would know? They bring
out the junior psychologists with their pap.
And Doc. Who is that man? Does anyone have any idea?
But there are other things that do happen here. One can safely ignore the
above nonsense and still follow Cosmos pictorially to the corners of the
globe. One can appreciate and smile over Mephi's wry and eloquent
commentary. An occasionally interesting subject is broached and the odd poem
rendered. Some music, a short film, cartoons and witticisms come and go as
well.
So there is a half empty/half full quality to the group. Your post is
pessimistic, but that is a choice. You can ignore the crap and enjoy the
occasional bright spots just as easily.
It is, to be sure, our 'little fort', and the good stuff does ebb and flow,
but that is the nature of life and when it's good it's fun and when it's
dreary, there are plenty of other things to attend to.
What else can you reasonably hope for from such an enterprise as this?
