Good warning.
Everybody should have good antivirus protection even Mac users. A good
firewall too.
If they don't they don't belong here. I think we should remind posters
about it more often.
People have posted EXEs in the groups before like the Waterdance slide
shows. I think they contribute to the fort but they also alienate Mac
users who can't run them.
We can't tell people not to do things. It doesn't work here. I think
they should be cautioned and told the risks so they can make their own
informed judgments about what they do.
Question.
Who is "that another poster purporting to be the vanguard of safe
conduct online"? I don't see anybody here who looks like that of the
people who praised Ronen for his EXE posts. Do you mean Doc? It
couldn't be Awake. He is only purported to be a list of bad names. LOL
I don't remember him posting about security. Do you mean me? I posted
some security info before and a big comprehensive repost from a former
poster one time. If you mean me I take it you want me to add this
warning to that compilation but I don't know if it fits. That FAQ is
mostly about posting not downloading. The original writer was more of a
behavioral expert than a computer security expert.
I think we should get together and write up a FAQ about the dangers of
downloading and how we can try to make our computers secure. I saw some
of your security posts before. I think you have a lot to contribute to
this kind of FAQ. Please post what you have and I will repost what I
did before. I think this is part of what Doc is asking for don't you?
