I agree with you, Morph. As a punishment, death was far too easy on
him. And the taking of *any* human life, even Saddam's, is not to be
taken lightly. However, DS got ahead of me in expressing *why* it
needed to happen. IMHO, it's the last recourse in the way of
self-defense. For the planet.
Saddam had far *too* much power, and too many followers in the
terrorist cults. We can be sure that there were already plots underway
to free him, at whatever the cost. The willful destruction of human
lives by the thousands hasn't stopped them before, and it wouldn't
stop them now from finding a way to free him. As long as he lived, the
possibility, and the fear of it, would exist. That major force is gone
now. It's over, and there's nothing they can do.

I've had such an experience once in my life, and it nearly destroyed
me. In this case, it did disturb me, deeply. Underneath it, though, I
felt a morbid sense of relief.
