Solomon's Private File #227
These stories about Stephen and Solomon take place starting in
1950's. Stephen wrote about his life in letters to a penpal, and then
in a secure blog, in case he lost his memory again, in the master
computer in his school for gifted students, which he started attending
in 2016 in a new incarnation, until his death. Now his son Solomon is
attending the same school, and is writing in his own secure blog for
his future incarnations.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
Solomon is 25 in this story, in the Spring of 2052.
Solomon's Private File #227 "Eye for an Eye"

I walked up behind a man, and then beside him. I said, "Shalom." He
looked at me with little interest, and then his eyes almost popped out
in surprise. I said with a grin, in Hebrew, "I shouldn't, but I confess
to enjoying that a little." He chuckled. I said, "Only you can see me,
as me. Er, and me. I just looked. Others will see me as some odd
stranger. Let's find a place to sit and talk." We stopped at an outdoor
cafe in Jerusalem. I said, "Please order for us. I could make money,
but that would be against the law. A gold bar for you in support of
this." He said, "That's alright. I can afford it." I said, "Then as a
gift for your mother. She will need it." He said, "You know." I said,
"A feeling." He said, "God sent you." I said, "Probably. I don't think
it was indigestion." He chuckled, and said, "I never could have
expected this. And your humor, for ME." I said, "Oh, you don't know how
many times I've heard that!" Chuckles.
He said, "They killed my father." I said, "I know. For what you will,
justification?" He said, "An eye for an eye." I said, "Good thing it
wasn't an eye for a nose, or there would he a lot of seriously
conflicted and indecisive revenge seekers." He looked at me strangely,
trying not to smile. Then he thought. He said, "There was more in what
passages." He read them. I said, "It was meant as a limit, not a
requirement." He said, "I see that." I said, "Will another death bring
him back?" He said, "No. Er, is he reincarnated?" I said, "Yes. I know
because he's not where he would be, if he were still waiting for
judgement. Honestly, I don't know how you can do this to your mother.
You aren't planning to live." He said, "You will not forbid this?" I
said, "Ask you to reconsider, only. Do you know for sure who did it?"
He said, "No. One of them will be enough."
I said, "Oh, something like on a menu. You choose what you like. I'll
show you pictures for this. A baby?" He said, "No!" I said, "Oh,
alright. A little girl?" He said, "No! A man!" I said, "So much for
variety. So, how old do you think?" He said, "Why are you doing this
crazy thing?" I said, "Reasonable you should know and choose well. Who
doesn't like to do good work? So, how old?" He said, "40." I said,
"Alright. Here's one. Pretty wife. Great children. I wonder how their
lives will be without him. Here's the funeral. A lot of sadness and
crying. Oh, the children can't afford to go to school. The eldest son
is in trouble with the law. He killed somebody, just for a little
money! His sister a prostitute? Who would have believed it? His mother
is drinking into an early grave. Oh, he is raped in prison. He will
have a much worse life than you had. Did he deserve it, for what
neither he nor his father caused?" He said, "This is true?" I said,
"Sometimes I can see these things. More, as time passes. Not that I
want to. So, yes, it's true, if you kill that man. Or you can choose
another. We know it will probably be something similar."
He said, "Have you done this on the other side?" I said, "Yes. Many
times, all over the world, and other worlds." He said, "Have they all
decided not to seek revenge?" I said, "I won't say. It shouldn't
interfere with your own decision." He said, "You are too fair." I
looked at him oddly, and we both smiled. He said, "They are good
people?" I said, "As they are now, yes. As they will be without your
er, action, yes. REAL people, not invented." He said, "Will I meet
them?" I said, "If you wish, yes." He said, "I do. Where?" I said,
"Strangely convenient, the owner of this place. His brother was killed.
WITH your father. Same bomb." He said, "Oh!" Then he really cried. I
moved over to hug him. The owner came out and asked if he could help. I
said, "Yes. I need to be someplace else. Work. You know how it is." He
said, "I do. Please, he will be well." I walked away. They went inside
and shared their stories. Love began.
Galya was hugging me, crying, too. Ivanna ported in and we hugged.
She said, "The work of the enlightened! I SAW that." Galya said, "How
did you know?" I said, "I didn't, exactly. I just went with the flow. I
knew what I should know, when I should know it." Mom said, "Super Adept
abilities help." I said, "True, but I did something like this in summer
camp." They nodded. I said, "He's trying to contact me. I'll set up a
call. I know what he wants, so it's alright if you listen." I said to
the man, "David! Already?" He chuckled and said, "Yes, it's me, and I
don't know how this call works, but it's on speaker. They are great
people! And embarrassed now. They're right here." I said, "I know the
feeling!" Chuckles. He said, "What you did for me is important for the
world. We want a TV show with you to show the world what you taught
us." I said, "For my help, you would embarrass me so? I thought you
gave up revenge!" Laughter, and in the background, too. I said, "Only
if your mother agrees. I do NOT want to cause her any more pain." He
said, "Oh! I didn't think about that." I said, "I'm disappointed in
you. She deserves more. My mother, who's right here with me, agrees.
Well, she would. Ouch!" Laughter on both sides. I said, "Talk with her.
I'll have a background reactive watch on you. Say my name twice, and
I'll hear it." He said, "Thank you."
I provided the porting. Greg introduced us. I was there, and David
and his mother, and the restaurant family, the father, wife, two sons,
and a daughter. I had helped them with English. Greg said, "These two
families asked for this show with Solomon. We agreed to host it,
because it covers a very important topic." I said, "I didn't plan for
this show. Anyway, I'll start with the action." I played that, but not
listing the bad things that the family would be experiencing, just
saying that they would have been bad, and they shouldn't think of them
now that they won't happen. Then they described their talking together,
and how they came to love and appreciate each other. Then we went to
break. The younger boy said, "I want to know what would have happened!"
I said, "I didn't say then what would have happened to you. And I won't
now. You will have a good life. NO! Don't ask again." They looked at me
in surprise.
Back from break, Greg said to me, "So your feeling wasn't
indigestion. But how did you know about the family connection?" I said,
"I didn't, until I said it." He said, "I don't understand." I said,
"Same here. I just did and said what I should. It turned out alright.
Who's complaining?" Grins. He said, "You said you do this all over the
world. Any of them available for a show?" I said, "I'm not doing
another show like this. I agreed to this one for the unique cultural
and national situation. And er, because I did it a little more er,
oddly, and so could cause more interest. Want more, play this one
again. Cheaper for you, too." He chuckled, and said, "True. The dying
together. You could have used that first." I said, "Actually, I
couldn't, and wouldn't have used it in any other way than I did. I
didn't know who he would choose of the pictures, and I didn't know of
the connection until just before I said it." He said, "So, in effect,
you knew something of the future, without knowing you knew?" I said, "I
don't know that, either. I know it's confusing. How do you think I
feel?" Chuckles.
I said, "I won't be doing this a lot, but I have something extra to
offer for these families. If they don't object. For all, if they
choose, full university scholarships in Tibet, for life. Contingent on
good grades, of course. Transportation included. These are very good
people, and I want the honor of helping them to give that goodness to
others and the world." They all had a lot of wows, and some tears, too.
We hugged with love, and then went off air. I said, "My contact there,
now out of bed, has all your information. Here's cards with how to
contact the school. Free call. Let them know when, er, if you want to
attend." More grins. The father said, "I didn't expect this!" Greg
said, "I think that was one of his reasons for for doing it." I said,
"I am SO exposed!" Laughter.
I said, "I will give you other gifts now, but not so the world would
know. Why tempt thieves?" I gave them fancy holy books, bound in silver
and gems. The Jewish Bible, and the Koran. I said, "Well, I'm something
of a religious authority. I think it might be required that I do this."
Chuckles. I said, "Something special about them. Direct and accurate
translations of the originals. Included in the back, things that were
left out of holy writings in the original official versions, and also
some of real history, too. Only you have these. I've given them to no
others. Well, I couldn't. I just made them. I suggest you don't tell
the world, if you want to actually keep them." Awe and nods. I said,
"No, Greg, for them. Sorry." He said, "For us, off the record." I said,
"Thanks. True professionals here. Here's copies of the program with
translations you can give to other stations." He said, "Oh! Thanks." We
hugged. I ported the families home.
Greg was about to say something. I said, "No. Trust me, you won't
want to know." He nodded and said, "I know you know best. Thank you."
We hugged. At home, Mom said, "I have a strange feeling that I know. I
have to voice it to know if I'm correct." I said, "Alright." She said,
"He would eventually kill all his family and then himself." I said,
"Yes. That we have to know these things is not fun, but nothing good
comes without the bad. All must balance. Even if it means we have to
know he would blow his brains out." We all cried for him, for what
wouldn't happen, and for all for whom it might in the future.
