Stephen's Secure Blog #394
These stories about Stephen began was when he was 10 years old, and
moving to a new part of the country to attend a special school for
gifted students, in the 1950's. This was from a time before computers
would fit on a desk, and when people communicated with friends in other
countries by actual letters sent through the postal service. He wrote
225 of them to a friend. He stopped writing to his penpal, but found he
still wanted to record his life, in case he lost his memory again, and
wrote 30 entries in his first logbook. Then he wrote to an artificial
intelligence called Geenee, in the master computer in his school for
gifted students, which he started attending in 2016. Now it's after
2018, and he's continuing to save his memories in a secure blog.
All characters are fictitious, even if some of them might have names
that belong to some actual people, or act like people we know.
The stories may not be posted in chronological order.
Stephen is 20 in this story, in Spring of year 10 of his special school.
Stephen's Secure Blog #394 "Kamala and Mediation"
START Page
"Kamala Sky Holmes was born was born to Autumn Rose RedCloud and
Stephen Chad Holmes, at the home of Rose's parents in Window Rock
Arizona, on April 26, 2027, at 9:58 AM local time. Doctor Chad Watson,
attending, with the Holy Man of the Navajo, Buddhist Abbot Tomba,
Regent Rhamcha of Tibet, and Cardinal Paolo, as witness. Many family
members were present. The girl is healthy and is doing well, and so is
the mother. The father insists he is well, too."
The official announcement went out, and in minutes communications
were erupting all over with congratulation and speculations. We found
some of them amusing. She's doing really well, and Rose went back to
normal as rapidly as before. Sol doesn't seem to mind that he has a
sister now.
I'm still writing and recording a lot of music, and even making music
videos, because it makes my recordings sell better. Some other artists
are performing my music, too. They appreciate that the license fees are
only a token. I met with some of the artists and praised their
performances, which they didn't feel too badly about. There have been a
lot of attempts to nominate me for music awards, but we've managed to
have them ignored. I'm often asked to be an emergency guest conductor
in orchestral performances. I usually do it, even though I think some
of the requests are not real emergencies. Well, I'm allowed to have a
little fun sometimes, aren't I? Besides sex.
There was unrest in a mostly Islamic country. Nigeria. I was asked by
it's President to attend public meetings about it. I was silent in the
first two meetings, and a lot of the people involved kept glancing at
me, but nobody asked me to say anything. Then a person asked me if I
had anything to say. I said "I have a question. Why are you fighting
and killing people?" They just stared at me. Then one said, "You have
heard our reasons for that." I said "No, I have not. I have heard of
your goals, and how much you want to achieve them, but not why you are
killing people." He said "I don't understand." I said "Do you think you
can make dead people agree with you?" More staring. I said "Do you
think you can make the relatives of the people you kill, agree with
you?" One said "But that's the only way we have!" I said "And how well
is that working?" More silence. I said "If you want to use killing
those who disagree with you as a real and effective tactic, you would
need to kill ALL of them, or it will not work. And it is likely they
will resist that by killing YOU. It looks to me that such a tactic is
not helpful. Except in one way. That is if you like to kill people, and
do it purely for enjoyment. Do you?" He looked outraged, and said "We
do not enjoy killing!" I said "Yet you insist on doing it, and in using
justifications that obviously do not work." There were expressions on
many faces that showed some thinking going on.
I said "And you are partially incorrect about not enjoying killing.
Many of the people who do it for you, DO enjoy it, and do it more, and
more brutally, than you are comfortable with, if such a concept of
being comfortable with any kind of killing is palatable to any decent
being." He was about to speak, and I said sharply, "Do NOT lie to me!
And particularly not about the obvious." He sighed, and said, "You are
correct." I said "Civil wars draw such people like vultures to a
rotting corpse. They feed on hatred and violence, and grow stronger. If
they are not stopped, they will take over your movement, and live only
for destruction, destroying all around them, and eventually themselves.
You know this to be true, because you have seen this before in other
places. Is this what you want?" He said "That is not what we want, but
we see no other alternative." I said "You are incorrect, and you know
it. There exists the alternative of not killing people." He said "But
if we stop, we won't achieve our goals." I said "You won't achieve your
goals by killing. In fact, you are making that achievement even more
unlikely. Logic indicates that you would therefore be in a better
position if you stopped killing. Will you stop, then?" Silence. I said
"You won't, because as a leader, you need to do something, anything, to
satisfy your people's anger and resentment that you have raised up, or
they will turn on you and destroy you." He looked stricken, and the
others looked at him with some negative feelings and expressions. I
said "There is a saying which is something like, 'When you raise a
tiger, and teach it to eat people, sooner than you think, you are
likely to fill his stomach with yourself.'" They all looked very
thoughtful.
One said "That is a very wise saying. Where is it from?" I said "Er,
thank you. I just created it." They noticed my embarrassment, with
smiles. I said "But it's very likely it's been said before a lot of
times, because it's so true, and people have illustrated it all too
often." They nodded agreement. I said "I think you should all help our
friend here, to try to undo the damage he's caused. He is almost ready
to accept it. Your personal kindness will help." I said to my victim,
"There are many ways to make changes. Better, before you begin, to look
at what you would use to do that, so the cost might not be worse than
you can bear. Idealism is a fine motivating factor, but pragmatism is
what creates survivability. Work for the good of ALL, for the future,
and all will benefit. You'll feel much better, too. I know this."
I stood, and said, "I think I have said what needed to be said. I am
no longer needed here. If you will except my personal love, I will give
it to each of you." I glowed, and opened my arms. They all came one by
one, except my victim. I beckoned to him with a smile, and he accepted
me. I helped him to sit. I bowed and ported away. My extended family
watched them sit in silence for a while, and then they went to work.
Rose said "That really was a good saying. Prime for the collection." I
said "I didn't make it for that. It just happened." Chad said "Still
very good. Has fur." Hawk laughed. Pete said in the air, "That was
televised locally. I'll send a recording of it to CNN, after they
adjourn." Chad said "Good. Such wisdom should be spread around." I said
"It already is around. A lot of people we know could have said the same
things there." Rose said "Maybe, but not as well, and certainly not
with your authority and love. I think you like to underestimate the
effect of your full presence on people, even when your Ki doesn't flow.
Just your voice alone is very impressive. And the rest of you, well, we
all know that." I said "I suppose you're right. Embarrassing, but I
shouldn't stop taking advantage of it for the good of all." Pete said
in the air, "Darn right!" I said "And you were so reluctant for me to
get involved in world affairs." He made a rude noise, and we laughed.
Much of what I did there did air on CNN and other networks, adding to
the constant talk about me. I was invited to do more mediating. Some
efforts were more successful than others, but we had reports that some
situations were helped by those who were involved, just watching what I
was doing in other countries. Then there was a big one. In it, I asked
the leader of Hamas, "The rockets you send over the border. What is the
real reason you have for doing that?" He looked like he really wanted
to change his mind about coming to the meeting. He started to get up. I
focussed my Ki on him, and said, "Please stay." He sat back down. I
said "Please answer my question. I think most here already know the
truth." He sighed, and said, "Our reason for the rockets is to keep our
cause in the news." I said "Another reason?" He said "We can't think of
any other way. We have no choice!"
I said "There are always choices. We'll get to those in a moment. My
question?" He said "It is to generate reprisals to keep our people
motivated to hate our enemies." I said "Just so we are clear on this,
you send the rockets to indiscriminately harm and kill innocent people,
including CHILDREN, so the Israelis will do things to protect
themselves, so you can point to their actions and call them aggressors
and other bad names? You do this to cause the blockade of your people,
so parts for the rockets might be made less available? You do that so
they will kill your people in justified self defense, so your people
will hate them? You make your people suffer and die for this, for your
political games?" He said "It's not like that!" I said "Then what about
what I said is not accurate?" He was silent. I said "You know if your
people didn't do anything bad across the border, the Israelis would
leave you alone? Isn't that right?" He nodded. I said "But being left
alone in peace isn't what you want. What you really want, even if your
people don't really care about it, is the destruction of Israel, and
you're abusing your own people to try to cause that to happen. Is that
correct? Please answer me." He sighed, and said, "It is correct. Israel
must be destroyed."
I said "Why do you feel that Israel must be destroyed?" He said
"Because they don't follow Allah!" I said "Actually they do, in some
ways, more than Christians do. Don't ask them for pork. Why aren't you
then attacking other countries that also don't follow Islam?" He said
"Because they stole our land!" I said "So which is it, religion, or
economics and land ownership, that's the real reason you want them
dead?" He said "All of it, but it's our land." I said "If it is yours,
why are you in Gaza and the West Bank, and not there?" He said "Because
they forced us out!" I said "How did they do that?" He was silent. I
said "Please answer my question." He ground his teeth. I waited. The
others there were silent in horrified fascination. He finally said,
"Because they came and we didn't like them. They bought our land." I
said "Was that because your people wanted to sell to them, because they
were good and hard working neighbors, and they actually liked them?" He
said "Yes, but that's not the point. They were not US!" I said "That
depends on who you think you are. But you haven't said how you came to
be out of Israel." He said "We had to leave because some of us were
fighting, and we would be killed or in prison for that." I said "There
is more, but what you just said is that you were fleeing justice, as
criminals." He didn't say anything.
I said "1948. Israel became an independent country. Except for some
Jewish terrorists who bombed the British offices and military, the
country was at peace. Jews and and Muslims got along as neighbors and
friends, building a good country from almost nothing, which they had
been doing for more than a hundred years, TOGETHER AS PEOPLE OF
PALESTINE! Then the Muslims of the surrounding nations invaded the new
nation of Israel, and they found fellow Muslims who didn't want to kill
their good neighbors. That was a problem for you and the invaders. They
forced you to choose sides. Be true to your fellow Muslims, or refuse
to kill your friends. A difficult choice they all saw. The invaders
created a solution to that. You kill your friends, or the invaders
would kill YOU. That's what happened. Your OWN but foreign people
killed you, men, women, and children, for not supporting their desires.
Whole towns were massacred. Sometimes they blamed it on the Jews, but
all knew the truth."
I said "The Jews had to protect themselves. They didn't know which
Muslims to trust, and there were still many, true heroes of faith in
the good of mankind. But still, your different peoples drew apart, to
survive, each in their own traditions. That became worse over time, and
more violent, caused mostly by outsiders. So we come to the present
day, where much of that is STILL caused by outsiders, for THEIR
purpose, who are using YOU, like you are using your own people for your
political desires. Where is your true loyalty now? Is it to your
people, their safety and well being, or to those outsiders who are
using and manipulating you? The world sees that it is to those
outsiders, you bow. When will your people see this? How long can you
keep them in ignorance? How long will they let you continue to cause
their suffering and death for a goal that wasn't theirs in the
beginning, and which can never be achieved?" Dead silence.
He said in a small voice, "Never? Truly?" I said "Yes. Never. Truly.
It's actually worse than that. 1966. Israel was willing to share
Jerusalem. Then the war. Now they hold the entire city, and more. They
let you have some land, when they didn't have to, but what will happen
if they are attacked again, seriously, just as you want to happen? They
will take away from you, what you already have, and take even more
territory. The pattern is already set. A successful pattern, for THEM,
and a disastrous plan for you, because you will have no place to go,
and if you join in the attack, you will all die. They will have no
choice but to cause that. There are powerful countries, which, while
they are not perfectly happy with all that Israel does, they will never
let it be destroyed. When will you stop being blind to this truth?" He
cried.
I said "All is not yet lost. Give up your demand that Israel be
destroyed, and join with those there, to make a better country for ALL
its people. Other countries and peoples have done this. It's far from
impossible. You can learn from them. Always remember, that although you
call Him by different names, you are all children of Abraham, and
worship the same God. I who was Ishmael, and many others who you know
and respect, tell you this is so." He looked at me in awe. I glowed and
stood, and held out my arms to him. He came into my hug to receive all
my love. I helped him to sit. I said to all, "It's not going to be
easy. Many people on both sides won't want what should happen, to
happen. There will be outside manipulators, stirring the pot, to
sabotage all good works. It will take time to overcome all the mistrust
that has been built up. All that will work to hold you back, but if you
are strong and resolute, and give honest love to your fellow human
beings, the land of much that is Holy, will be at peace with its
people, and therefore in grace with God. If you want me to return, to
speak with both of your peoples some more, I will try to. For my
personal love, please come to me." I was still glowing, and I opened my
arms again. They all came into them for my love, even the news crew.
Then I bowed and ported home.
Rose said, "That was a big one!" I looked down, and she laughed, and
said, "I didn't mean that." Hawk and Chad laughed. I said "If the
Palestinians work it right, and go the peaceful way, they will win in
about 150 to 180 years. Judaism is dying out. I can't tell them that,
even in secret, because if it ever went public that I said it, they
would be wiped out. They couldn't keep it to themselves." Hawk said "I
agree they couldn't, but I don't know about your projection, but it
looks reasonable." I said "Israel's supporters can't ignore valid
elections, which is why Hamas came to power. The Palestinians are smart
enough to understand that, but will they give up their personal need
for instant victory?" Chad said "I hate to say it, but probably not.
They would need new rulers for that, and that would spill a lot of
their own blood. Many of their people are so stuck on hate, they would
die, and take others with them, than stop the attacks. I have to say
it, your saying is so right. Their tigers will eat them."
Dan said "I would like to contribute to these conversations, but
they're over my head." I said "Not really. It's just that you've still
not yet caught up with world affairs. Don't worry about it. By the time
you are, things might be different." He said, "Has to be for the good.
What you do has to make it so. They can't oppose you, because you're
right." Hawk said "Someday they might actually believe that." I said
"If they do, it will be after I'm gone. Then they won't feel they would
have to go along with more things, and can better accept what already
is." Rose said "Yes. But that's not a reason for you to go right now.
Take more time to build up your good works." I said "I probably will.
It's not fun, though." She grabbed my nuts. I said "But there are other
benefits." Hawk laughed, and then we proceeded to really enjoy those
benefits.
