BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WHDH) -- First his Pee Wee football teammates supported
Danny Keefe when he was getting bullied, now the High School varsity team
let him be an honorary captain on Thanksgiving.
Players and coaches inspired by Danny's story asked him to be the captain
after hearing how his teammates stepped up for him.
"I took the captains down to his classroom the other day and asked him if
he'd like to be an honorary captain and he was sky high," Bridgewater-
Raynham Football Coach Dan Buron said.
Danny is normally the Pee-Wee Badgers water coach.
Last week his team banded together after they learned Danny was being
teased about the way he talked.
Danny's team, the Badgers, started "Danny appreciation day;" dressing in
suits and hats, because that's how Danny dresses for school every day.
"It was just a simple act for Danny. We just wanted to make Danny feel
loved. For him to know we will always have his back and will always be
there," Tommy Cooney said.

His team joined him in the locker to cheer on the big boys, but it's these
fifth graders who everyone is looking up to.
"This is more important than wins and losses to be honest, and what the
message the 5th graders sent about protecting one of their own,"
Danny suffered a brain hemorrhage when he was born, which now affects his
speech, but there was no mistaking his message inside the locker room
before the game.
"I think what these boys have done is restore faith in a lot of people.
They have proven that with a simple act of support that they can make a
huge difference in people's lives. It truly means the world to us and I'll
be forever grateful to these boys," Danny's mom Jennifer said.
Bridgewater-Raynham won their Thanksgiving football game against Brockton
20-6.
